I'm going to be starting a thread for healthy recipes.

I think it would be great if we could include Calories/Fat/Carbs/Pro tein per serving. Sparkpeople.com is a great resource for food logging and they even have a recipe builder there.

Oh that is what I drink, tap water. Though I wonder what makes the ... smart water different from all the other water bottle water? You know the one Jennifer Anniston promotes.

These two things are the building blocks to any life style, especially if you plan on changing a lot in the future like diet and exercise.

I know this question wasn't directed at me but....B-vitamins and iron are supposed to be the best for energy. I can say the iron especially has worked for myself.

It has electrolytes in it. It helps hydrate you more. But it's really only beneficial if you're putting out sweat.

Let's be cautious with iron because it's easy to OD on. Literally. It is good for energy, but only if you're deficient. If you don't eat foods that are naturally rich in iron (dark, leafy greens and red meats are the most common), then you might be deficient.

If you're worried, I would go to your doctor and get your iron levels tested. Invest in SlowFe which is a time release and it doesn't bombard your body with a big dose of the iron at once.

shoot, I had to leave for a while. I have been trying to get back into the habit of drinking more water or at least more unsweetened drinks. Does anyone know if tea is ever a good substitute for water? I don't like the taste of our tap water and bottled water gets ridiculous after awhile, I like water with a twist of citrus but I never think to fix it unless I make a pitcher full and I know I am going to drink the whole thing over a day.

That is what I do! I also make a big insulated cup of ice water and keep it full all day long. I made a habit of taking a big drink every time I walked passed it, and it's there already made when I get thirsty, so I am not tempted to make a glass of soda. When I get tired of the lemon juice and want something with a little bit of sweet, I pour a splash ( just a splash ) of my son's juicy juice in the cup. It really flavors the water and all you need is literally like a tablespoon amount.

Not really. The caffeine (even white tea has caffeine) is a diuretic and makes you lose hydration. I highly recommend a Brita pitcher or a Pur faucet thing. It makes the water SO MUCH MORE bearable to drink and it's pennies a gallon versus the big $$ you spend on bottles.

OMG... yes! Mine and my man's weight gain have made us both low on energy and self esteem. Where this makes me want sex more as a stress reliever, ego boost, etc. he is the exact opposite. The end result is we are barely having sex once a week, and I am getting really frustrated.

Thanks for answering sweetie. Well I am eating more spinach but I do so with my eggs. So I have to just have it in a different way. I heard that B12 is good so maybe I should buy some.

Yes, iron worked for me because I don't eat red meat often. I have been anemic in the past. :/

There are also green tea supplements you can get that are not caffeinated that will help with that too. Just make sure you're not getting the caffeinated stuff.

Gotta run folks, but I wanted to leave you all with something my mom taught me when I was little.

Your body gets rid of bad stuff one of four ways.
1. Burn it, as in energy for exercise.
2. Sweat it out.
3. Out your nose
4. Poo/Pee

Anything you do that will help these processes along will benefit you greatly.

Oh I almost forgot...

At least get a Brita pitcher. It is so much better on you AND the environment. I would love to be able to drink water right from my tap, but it tastes bad out here in the country. At least we don't have well water, but still, it tastes really funky. I can't even make iced tea with it, so I have TWO Brita pitchers just so I can make iced tea.

Yes, but every one should be real careful about iron supplements. It is one of the vitamins that can actually be harmful, even FATAL if you have too much in your system. I was told by my doctor to not to take more than what is in a multivitamin unless your are specifically instructed to do so by a doctor who will monitoring your iron levels closely.
