I wish there was some more info about it, I would love to know how many motors, transmissions etc. were done to it. Still, pretty amazing!
We've got roughly 238- 240 thousand miles on the van and it's had two transmission rebuilds...we've nearly redone the entire motor but that was still cheaper than buying a new car! Our van eats through brake pads like they are Nom Nom Nom.

I always know when I get them too tight, if I can not get them off by hand I get upset with myself. lol

When I helped Melan!e's dad change the powere steering pump on our car, he was cursing Mazda and their stupid design the whole time.

It seems like in newer cars the manufactures like to make it hard to work on them. I like working on older vehicles.

I have many, many stories like that Airen. The worst was a time when an old timer told me to hold a spark plug on a Model A, they have a Magneto and the spark will knock you across the room! Good thing my dad was there to stop me from doing it.

My grandfather was a Chevy man and he called Ford: Found On Road Dead! The best car we have ever owned hands down is our Dodge. That's the thing about a Dodge though, you get one that will run FOREVER or one that dies miserably and needs constant repair.
At least that is our experience.

Now then, you need to locate the oil filler cap and the dip stick. On newer cars and trucks the cap and dip stick is clearly marked.

Take the cap off and pull the dip stick out, use a clean rag and wipe them off. While you’re at it, clean off the oil filler tube, chances are there will be dirt/dust around where the cap sits.

Once again, keeping dirt from getting into the new oil is a good thing. Another thing, check your funnel and make sure it is clean. Below you can see that my funnel is quite dirty, I defiantly don’t want to pour new oil through that. A clean rag is all that is needed to make it nice and clean.

Place the funnel in the filler tube and begin pouring the new oil in. I find that holding the bottle and pouring from the side works best as it prevents a lot of the ‘gulp gulp’ action that pouring to fast can cause.

Asshole! Like the vet who told me to sit on a sedated horse's neck and hold him down. I wrestled that horse down three times before the vet stopped laughing long enough to tell me to stop. That shit's not funny! How would you like to be knocked across the room or wake up from surgery being wrestled back into bed?

The oil in the face was mild since the car had been sitting for a full day but you could have been really hurt!

No worries.

After 35 years of wrenching, I can say I have worked on more domestic cars than anything else. Of those, Dodge has the most electrical problems, Ford need the most unique tools and Chevy..well it's a Chevy.

Now the clerk at the auto parts store may have told you how much oil your vehicle will take, while they are probably pretty close it is still best to check for yourself. Since most engines take 4 quarts of oil plus one in the filter, I always add the four quarts at first. Wait a few minutes for the oil to flow through the motor and then slide the clean dip stick into the tube. Wait a second or two and slide it back out. There should be two marks on the dip stick; an “Add” and “Full”, some may have the words with the marks, and some may just have marks. Either way, the mark closest to the end of the dip stick is the “add” and the mark towards the handle of the dip stick is the “full” mark. At this time we just want the oil to show somewhere around the add mark. Keep adding oil, checking the dip stick (clean it off every time before you put it in) until the oil is around the add mark.

Once the oil is showing around the add mark, we need to start the motor. This will insure that the filter is full of oil. If you do not do this step and your filter was not fully full before you put it on, your engine will be low on oil. Not good!

So, place the dip stick in the hole and put on the filler cap. Now start the car.

PLEASE NOTE: Never rev the engine when it first starts! Even when you are not changing the oil there is only so much oil in the system at start up, by revving the motor you cause bearings undue stress and increased loads to be applied to them.

Let the motor idle for a minute or two before giving it any gas. This is where most of the damage done to a motor is caused. Also note that in colder weather the oil takes even longer to flow through the motor. As such, let it warm up longer.

My little chevette I could actually lift the back end and move it over if I had parked too far from the curb. If it hadn't been for the fact that every time the fuel filter got changed it cracked the master cylinder it would have been a perfect car.

What I always hated was every time I had to take one of our work trucks in to the dealer for service it was $1000, no matter what. Hell a pair of mirrors for my boss's truck was $900.
