Pretty good. I have the house to myself for a bit, I have a good size order coming and a pretty mellow night at work ahead.

I like changing my own oil and working on my truck, it saves money. This is a cool topic I am glad it will help people work on thier vehicles.

We've got about 235 thousands clicks on our old clunker. We get our oil changed every 15k. I think thats it right? It doesnt get very dark and it barely goes down at all so we like to keep on top of it to keep it that way.

Nice! If I may ask, what year and make is it. I love old cars/trucks, much easier to work on IMO.

I generall change my oil every 3,000 miles or so, I just changed mine a couple of wees ago.

Welcome everyone to the July meeting of Eden DIY, I am so happy to see y’all here.

As some of you know, this topic is something that I have been doing for over 35 years. Yes, even at five years old I was changing oil and working on cars with my dad. Since then I have saved countless dollars by working on my cars, trucks and motorcycles. I can truthfully say that not one mechanic shop has ever changed my oil. I never saw the need to pay someone $30-$50 dollars (or more) for something I can do myself for much cheaper, plus there is the wait while some guy I don’t even know puts his hands all over my precious.

Now, it is true that shops like Jiffy Lube also check other areas on your car like the air filter, radiator fluid and the air in your tires but these are things you should be checking anyways.

You do check then routinely, right?

So, let’s get to it, shall we? Oh ya, did I mention that I have a couple of Eden GC’s for today? Silly me, how could I forget that?

My dad is the king of old trucks and cars though. His newest car is a 2001 and that's the newest vehicle he's ever owned. He prefers the old ones too.

We just got a new car, well new to us. A 2001 Honda Passport. It eats oil. Hubby has to add oil to the it weekly. We were told that about that type of car before we bought it. It was last changed a few days after we have bought it and we have put on less than 5000 miles.

My newest is my '04 F150 but my oldest was '68 VW Baja.

Honda isn't really known for that. Has it been inspected?
