I don't even bother with a bread maker. Mix, knead, rise, shape, rise, bake is all you have to do. Well, and an autolyse in there somewhere. But I really don't care for bread machine bread.

Da Huang seems to be a very effective herb for draining excessive 'heat/fire' from our bodies, so we should all have some rhubarb sorbet after eating a very hot and spicy meal.

Just tucking the farewell post on the last thread: (for real this time!)
Thank you all so much for coming to this meeting! I think the recipe-building activity was super fun, and I hope you all go and try making a sorbet or two that struck your fancy.
For next month, I know we're having an Olympics theme, so start thinking about recipes that show off your cultural heritage!
I will put up a couple of threads as brainstorm starters in the next few weeks, and I hope you can come to August's meeting too
Thanks, you guys!

Welcome to the JulyMeeting of Eden Cooks! Eden Cooks is a cooking club for any interested members of the Eden community. We will meet on the forum to discuss everything from tips and pointers for less well-equipped kitchens, explanations of cooking terms, and important techniques. There will be a featured recipe each meeting, with pictures taken as I prepare it for you. I will cover some ingredient substitutions to make each recipe more friendly to people with dietary restrictions.
I want to thank you all for being flexible with the timing of the Eden Cooks meeting (family reunion season plays with everyone's schedule!) this month---and I hope these delicious and easy-to-make sorbets will be worth the wait! We're going to focus on cool and refreshing frozen fruit delicacies---and because the recipe is so simple and easy-to-customize, we're also going to have a little "recipe building" activity so everyone can have just the exact sorbet their heart and tastebuds desire.
In this meeting I'll show how to make Rhubarb sorbet, Lemonade + Iced Tea sorbet, Lemon Ginger sorbet, and Lavender sorbet---whether you have a fancy ice cream maker, or whether you'll just be freezing your fruit syrups in your freezer. (That's what I did!) The recipes can also be scaled up or down for personal-sized treats, or to refresh your whole family.
During the meeting, five $10 gift cards to EF will be awarded to the winners of a trivia contest from information that I will provide during the meeting, and to those who create exciting recipes in our recipe-brainstorm session.
The meeting will take place on the EdenFantasys forum in this very thread at 8 pm EST on Monday, July 23rd. I'm want you all to feel as refreshed as I do, so I can't wait to see you there! Rhubarb sorbet---because you can't buy rhubarb popsicles. less
