It seems a little old fashioned since lots of people move in together these days without the anticipation of marriage, but what are your personal experiences?
Have you moved in with someone before you were engaged or married?

We preferred to stay in our separate places until we got married - but I got a new job about 150 miles away several months before the wedding. She transferred to that city and we moved in together - about 2 months before the wedding.

We lived together for years before we even talked about getting married.

Yes. I think it is EXTREMELY important to live with someone prior to getting married. You never know someone good enough until you live with them.
09/18/2012
I don't think there is anything wrong with it and that it is actually a good idea.

Yes, it's just more prudent for college living. I hate roommates who don't clean dishes.

I lived with him prior to getting married. I wanted to make sure I knew how he was like before making such a big commitment.

Yes--we lived together for quite awhile before marriage.

My partner of 4 years and I just moved in together a couple days ago and are loving it (although we spent so much time together it was almost like we were for a year before this ). We have no plans on getting married, I'm not a big fan of marriage.

Wouldn't it suck to find out your partner was a total slob or had a closet of babies AFTER you bet half your stuff you'd stay with them forever (marriage)?

no after

Currently been with same man for going on 7 years. Have yet to be engaged to him

Living with a male partner now, but I never plan on getting married. Perhaps a civil union or other form of contract to make sure we get the same benefits that married couples do.
