Do You Have Collector Cravings?

I think we all have our collections.
For me, I love new makeup. Especially mascara. I am horrible for buying the latest one.
And toys. I love toys. *sigh*

I'm not generally much of a shopper, but I enjoy writing, and when I write about a non-fiction topic, I like to cover it thoroughly. So I have this weird impulse to collect all the most popular toys just so I can review them. Which is stupid. Otherwise, aside from buying a lot of books, I'm not really much of a collector, and I limit most of my impulsive behavior to cleaning. Well, plus coming up with an extremely elaborate system for toy-hiding.

I collect postcards. They are a great item to collect because they don't take up a lot of space, and I like looking at the ones that people have sent to me. Other than that, I can't say that I collect much. I try to be a minimalist and purge my house often. Of course, what I won't use I donate if possible.

We all go through the collecting phase. Especially if you have an addictive personality like me. I'm proud to say I'm a collecting addict of manga, stuffed animals and sex toys!!

I definitely hoard, and have fleeting obsessions, rather than collecting per se. Once I have a few items in a collection, I'll usually get bored and move onto something else. Cosmetics is the major one really, and maybe underwear!

Yep. I want everything on here!

I collected music boxes as a kid...now it's sex toys, shoes, makeup, books and teapots.

This may be a little strange, but I was wondering if I was alone in having collecting tendencies and not just about just having a collection of sex toys. I mean in a psychological collecting way, like having that rush of 'I want it' for a particular item, and yet not totally feel satisfied when you get it. You always want more. I have been trying to control and usually set limits about what I decide to buy and I've respected them.
I've had many collections in my life. When I was a kid, I collected foreign coins, stickers, artisanal soaps. It was nothing really serious, but kept everything about those lines that I could find. When I was older, I started a collection of Fantasy books, PS1 and PS2 RPG games (I got a few cool ones). I would spend so much time looking at books and games on Ebay trying to get some specific books. At least I was only buying through deals.
Eventually, I was even collecting stuff through some online games, and I had to quit everything.
And now, well, I seem to have focused my attention on sex toys. That was even before I found Edenfantasys, and somehow I did not really follow my own rules of just 'those toys'. Isn't it convenient not to be able to say no when you're getting it free even if it's feeding a collecting issue?
So, my question is:
Do you collect stuff as well?
If so, what did you collect? And do you have to set yourself or your collection limits? less

I totally agree you about rabbit fur. I got a bomber hat (yes, I look ridiculous) and it's lined in rabbit fur...mmm so soft and warm. Honestly, I think, besides all my books and sex toys, I buy a lot of things because of texture

I'm going to reply to my previous answer to amend it. I think buying nine glass dildos in a row is a clear sign of some sort of compulsion. I'll attempt to be saner in the future.

I hoard, my weirdest collection is Japanese bento boxes plus countless accessories for them. I just started on sex toys so it remains to be seen if this will become a compulsive collection.

Omg yes. I am super impulsive. It's a problem. I am 100% sure if I didn't have access to the internet I would be rich. But instead I have a fully stocked play chest, media area, kitchen, house. I don't want it to be empty...That makes sense right... lol
I collect everything.
Make up, shoes, clothes, art, sex toys, you name it, I got it.

I get that with the PureJoy line...
03/14/2011
I think this is a very common human trait. I've been a collector since I was little. Many times I've looked at my "obsession of the moment" be it CD's, Movie Posters, Watches, Porn, Toys, Golf Clubs, Neckties etc. and thought WTF am I doing? I've finally realized...it makes me happy so why not? For me, it's not merely the acquisition of "stuff". I get just as big (if not bigger) of a charge from the research, learning, comparisons, discovering and bargain hunting. Although I agree with Sex and Lies about capitalism feeding this type of urge, I do not believe that capitalism had anything to do with creating my desire to collect things. I'm sure that if I were a caveman, I would have quite the collection of spears and animal hides!
03/14/2011
I don't really have a collection of anything... I get really worried about hoarding or addictive-shopping behavior when I read your post! Not to offend you if that's totally not what you're meaning.
I find when I'm wanting the rush and instant gratification of purchasing a toy or a book or a game or clothing.... I need to think about what I'm actually lacking or feeling unhappy about in my life.
Idk. I don't want to get my rush out of material things...

Definitely have collector cravings. More recently it's mainly involved sex toys I've been eyeing!
09/21/2011
My collection is sex toys! Just can't get enough of them.

I love the "Oh, shiney!" tag as a choice for this poll. That's exactly what I say sometimes when I see something I want (particularly the Njoy line of toys). I have several things that I collect, and the real downside to it is the space they take up.
I do collect sex toys, but that is less of a "collection craving" than it is a continuous quest for more and better orgasms. Still, I have a pretty large collection and they take up a lot of room.
I collect hats. Usually from places I've been. I like them better than the souvenir trinkets. I also have several Stetsons; western and fedoras. These things take up some room.
I also collect golf putters. I have over a dozen stacked up in the garage. Mostly Scotty Camerons, but I have a few others too. Again, these aren't small items, so space is an issue.

I collect Wizard of Oz stuff.

I try to limit my assorted collections to about 5 different types of items (antique books, special or foreign coins, temp. tattoos, and panda items).
The book collection has me glad we don't live a ten minute walk from the local library any more (they sold books donated by people to raise funds and a lot of them were pretty old).

I used to collect buttons as a kid. Fancy ones. I have over 1000 and they'e all different. Now I've moved on to toys

We keep telling ourselves: "They're just sex toys, harmless sex toys,...you can never have enough"
