YES. Yes, yes, yes. But I stopped. I'm giving up. I will no longer be a Caretaker of Things. (well... not as many things)
Collecting things and feeling the need that I was never finished and always needed more became a compulsive, stress-inducing problem for me. When I finally decided I don't actually need half the things I own I started selling them or giving them away. It feels like I've dodged a responsibility because of that decision. I'm more free to make choices or take chances because I don't consider "What will I do with my stuff?" anymore. I've found other ways to be happy.

I am with you on this one. I collect(ed) many things, such as typewriters, salt and pepper shakers, shoes, maps, ....pretty much anything broken and useless, I had to have it.
I looked around and saw all of the useless and pointless crap I had, and decided it was enough. I now allow ONE item of each to stay, and only indulge in my postcard/stationary fix. Even that has rules: no new postcard books until the last has been sent out, nothing over $5, etc.,. This is the only hobby that I have that can make other people happy, and is somewhat easy/cheap to maintain. It also doesn't take up much space.
Not sure if I should or not, but I consider my toy collection to be different. I am building mine as a hopechest for when I finally move in with my partner--the toys will be useful for both of us, and not just sit on a shelf.
Does anyone else see that distinction? Or am I just kidding myself?
