More than anything, functionality. After that, it's all window dressing.

I definitely consider all of these factors when choosing a toy. Least of all being cost, unless a toy seems wildly unworthy of it's price tag. I expect to pay a high price for high quality and I'm a bit of a toy snob so I only want nice ones. No cheap or low quality toys for me and I prefer rechargeables so they come with a higher cost. The functionality and durability are very important to me. If a toy is very functional, does what I want it to do and will last a long time, it's worth the price. In line with functionality, I also consider ergonomics, how the toy operates, the controls, how easy it is to hold. As far as style, I won't even consider realistic looking toys and I don't like really whimsical or cutesy toys. I won't buy anything with an animal or character on it or anything like that because it creeps me out. I like Lelo and Je Joue style toys because they are usually pretty and feminine and elegant looking. Size is important! I am small and slender with tiny hands so anything I buy needs to fit my body and my hands. Probably the most important factor and the one that is often a deal breaker is material safety. If a toy has all the other factors I want, meets all other criteria, but is made of a material that isn't non-porous and sanitizeable, I won't even consider it.

My girlfriend usually looks at them with me wanting my input on it. For her finding one that hits her g-spot is the most important thing.

I don't really care about "Style" per se. Its more if its worth the money and does what I need it to do.

I think almost every aspect plays into our decisions, but functionality and appearance are big for my wife.

Same. I always read reviews before buying, and price is definitely a factor for choice.

I usually take all aspects of a toy into consideration, but cost and durability can be more of a factor when the budget tightens.

I voted for functionality. But it's a bit of everything really.

I wishlist toys based on their functions and buy them based on cost and my current budget at that time. I have a wishlist purely for those I *wish* I could afford. =P

Functionality, cost, but I'd rather buy something of amazing quality than having lots of low quality yet functional toys.

definitely a bit of everything was involved, though I went for non-intimidating and cheap as I'm a newbie and decided I would learn from what I liked/didn't to make decisions in the future. I know I'm going to upgrade to more expensive toys somewhere down the road, but affordability, safety of materials, size, and functionality were all important for me.

I am all about the power, so the more vrooms the better. Size and look isn't really important. Cost is also a big thing obviously. I don't like to buy cheap toys because I think it's a waste. But I also won't pay more than 150 dollars because I just don't think it's worth it

Functionality of course. Then I'd look at what it's made out of and its price. I find that while buying sex toys it's easier to just follow my instincts. If I see something that I find sexy and turns me on for a decent price that has okay durability, I'd get it.

I'm the same way!! I wishlist a lot of things, because it's just not in my budget right now - especially with how little sex toys would be getting used, I can't justify the extra expense.

I noticed only a few people mentioned aesthetics, and for some reason that's really important to me when picking out a toy, regardless of it's function or material. I want something that looks like something I would use.

Then, I go function and then cost, and materials is something that I'm only recently learning about so only recently has become part of my decision-making process.

It seems like a pretty obvious and/or popular process.
The way I go: Functionality -> Cost -> Style & Durability
Though, most of the time I seem to think of durability as a subset of "functionality".

Functionality is most important - if it doesn't work, what's the point? I'd say style is the least crucial - good aesthetics might make me lust over a toy, but they won't convince me to buy it unless it has other good features as well.
