So, what is it about airplanes and hotels that makes for such hot erotica? Is it the allure of meeting a new lover-- or rediscovering a familiar one-- in a far off place? Is it the confined spaces that a hotel room or airplane offer-- the immediacy of the setting?
For me, I like stories with a definitive timeline-- I love road trip movies, for instance. Going from point A to point B in a certain number of hours makes getting to the action imperative.
What about you?

Do you remember which one off hand? I'm trying to think of which I thought were funny in that book - I remember them being there but don't remember which ones they were specifically....I read it over a month ago and have read so much since (and yet I still have 4 or 5 books I haven't started yet and 2 I'm currently reading!).

I definitely think part of the thrill of airplanes is the possibility of getting caught - there's very little private space and people definitely get curious if that bathroom door reads 'occupied' for too long

And with hotels, I think it's that since you're outside your normal or home surroundings, you don't have to act like yourself...you can get a little crazy, be someone else for a night.

That's definitely what it is, I think. A new situation can call for a new attitude and persona--it is easier to be crass, demanding, rude, seductive, etc.,.

Do Not Disturb is easily my favorite book of erotica. Makes me look at hotels in a whole new way.

Hotels are a "gimme" for me because I always think about sex when I'm in them. I mean, no house to clean, no phones to answer, meals to cook... what else are ya gonna do? LOL --- Michele

I associate sex with hotels too, but that's just because when I was young I lived in an apartment with really thin walls and 2 roommates. If you wanted to do something wild with a girl, you got a hotel room. So for me hotels=wild sex by default. ---Alan
Sorry for the delay... we're passing the laptop back and forth here

For me, hotels are sexy because they're so foreign. It's less personal, more about the moment than what could come after. You could bring a complete stranger into your hotel room and feel secure. But bringing someone into your home, that's difficult. That's like inviting them into your life. Letting them see your personality plastered all of the walls, learn more about you from the way you live, and even sometimes see your dirty laundry (figuratively and literally speaking). I think it appeals to me because most of the time, hotels are for spontaneous, chance meetings. All that's left when it's over is an empty room and soiled sheets to tell the tale of what had happened.

It was pretty good, even though the sex scenes were tamer than most erotica (as in less graphic). Also there were a lot of new stories in it that weren't fairy tales, which threw us off at first considering the title.

I think having sex in an airplane allows couples to do something out in the open without literally doing it in the open. Unless you're completely oblivious to what's going on most of the passengers will have some clue of what is going on and once they're off the plane they'll pass the story along so in a way you were famous or at least the highlight of the flight.

I have this book, and the Mile High Club one, but haven't had the time to read them yet. I'm very excited to though as my sweetie and I will be taking a plane trip soon, and staying in a hotel for roughly 2 weeks. I thought the erotica could add more anticipation to the trip. ^_~
