If I'm curled up in bed, there's a boyfriend next to me. Who hates light. Or repetitive noises (like turning pages). Besides, I work thirds, so my sleep time is in the middle of the day. I end up reading erotica books around 3AM or so.
If I have a particularly interesting book that I'm reading, I tend to throw it in my purse and carry it with me to read in the odd moments. If the cover is too revealing, I just throw on either a different jacket or one of those kid's school-book covers. I don't really mind if anyone sees, though. They may ask for a recommendation (that conversation has actually come up several times, always ending well).

This is really true- it is the evolution of literature!

Thanks- did not think about the out-loud action!

Hey - can you recommend a good book cover for me? All the book covers I've seen all are for large textbooks - not like a small erotica book. I'd love to read some of these while out and about instead of just at home.

Nobody really asks me what I'm reading which is fine by me.

I tried to do that while I was stuck on jury duty a month or so ago. I had the book in my bag and wasn't worried about people seeing it in there, but I kept having people reading my books over my shoulder on the train and in the waiting room, and I really didn't want to share my erotica with them, lol

Ooh, I'd second something for a small paperback, that would be awesome!

Thanks so much. I really think they did a beautiful job with the cover. And I might be biased, but I think what's under the cover is just as beautiful.

I want to kill people who read over my shoulder. Including my own boyfriend. It just seems like such an invasion of my private space.

When the Back to School push happens these next two months, go look for them at Target or Office Max or wherever. These days they make them out of like a stretchy nylon or polyester. They have big ones and small ones, and are very easy to adjust if needed. I find them to be the easiest to use, and the can be dirt cheap at the end of the season!

Still all in physical books. I have been avoiding using the Kindle or iPad since I'm a physical collector. I love actually seeing my collection grow, and electronic reading takes that away from me.

I know right!! Drives me freaking crazy. I don't mind my fiance all that much, but random strangers can mind their own damn business.

Huh. I've only seen the big ones before. Used to have some in high school. Might have to try and find some small ones and see if they work better for it. I had made a ghetto-looking out of wrapping paper, but it was horrible.

I've been looking into erotica for the ereader, which I only have cuz my mom thought it would make an awesome Christmas present a year or two ago. It was, lets me travel with books so much better!

I am pretty sure Violet Blue has many of her books available on Kindle, but as for me--I prefer the brick and mortar!

I mind the fiance. Want to shove him away if he attempts it. I also get pretty easily annoyed, and he knows not to do it now, so it isn't a point of contention anymore.

I'm still all about the physical books, in all genres. I simply love the feel and smell of a new (or antique, for that matter) book and I doubt I'll ever change.

We've got plenty of things that he's learned not to do, like don't touch me in any manner while I'm trying to eat or get something done, lol.

I normally have a problem with him reading over my shoulder, but it doesn't always drive me crazy. Erotica is actually the one thing I'm ok with on that, because then we're both getting in the mood, lol

On the subject of FRENZY, for those of you who say you do love short-shorts, are you looking for the realistic, DIY variety-- something to inspire you, for instance-- or the "this could never happen in real life, but it's damn hot reading" type of story?

I think most of Cleis Press's line is available on Kindle now.

If I'm going for something really short, it's to inspire a new activity.

Yeah. There's something about Cleis Press book layouts that just make me happy too. They always look the same - which is great. Everytime I read it, it's like opening up a familiar friend to new surprises.

Hmmm.....I like my stories realistic, but not "boringly" so. Like most stories I've read *could* happen, but they weren't likely to. For example, in "Do Not Disturb" a businessman opened up his curtains to find that he could see another couple in a nearby hotel room having sex. Got off to it. Next night saw the couple in the bar and followed them when they went to their room to go watch from his own room. They noticed him that time and performed for him. Next morning, he had a note telling him when they'd be back and that they'd love to play.

Now, it's realistic, but not probable. Those are probably my favorite types of stories.

I tend to like reading stories that are outside the normal everyday occurrences. Things that we may fantasize about, but that are highly unlikely to ever actually happen to us.
