I recently stopped getting the Depo shot because it messed with my hormones and period so horribly after I had my daughter. I am getting irritated with using condoms all the time and wondered what else everyone uses...
What is your preferred birth control method?

I wish I knew. I'm 22 years old and when I tried birth control pills, the bc pills Yasmin/Yaz/Ocella nearly gave me a heart attack, it scared the crap out of me. It's horrible and it has lawsuits behind it and argh. I feel like the doctors don't care, they just gave me the pills because it's the most "popular" but the doctors didn't look into if it would affect me badly or anything, doctors really don't care if something hurts you. I tried Seasonique and it made me bleed heavily for 3 months non-stop, I had enough and stopped it. I wish I knew which was the LEAST HARMFUL and most effective birth control method. I've done A LOT of research but every single method has it's advantages and disadvantages, it's really all a big game of tossing a coin, leaving it to chance that whatever birth control method doesn't harm your body [italic]bad enough] or fail to work.

We use withdrawal along with natural family planning. We generally tend to avoid when I'm close to ovulating (though we don't always) and he pulls out every time (unfortunately!) either way. We've had too many problems with other forms of birth control, so I'd rather just trust us instead of relying on something that continually fails (or disagrees with my body!)

I wish I could follow with natural planning but I have hormonal problems, irregular periods and I've read that the natural family planning might not be as affective for girls with irregular periods or hormonal problems since I guess the girl won't know when she's ovulating and I read something that if you have hormonal problems, even if you take an ovulation test, it might be inaccurate because of your messed up hormones. It's a lose-lose for me.

Anyway, it's just something I read, not sure how true it was.
Also I've read that hormonal birth control is not as effective with plus size women because the hormonal birth control was never tested on larger women and that larger women seem to have more of a resistance to the hormonal birth control? There are a lot of articles on the internet about it so if you're plus size, you have to be extra careful with hormonal birth control since it might not be as effective if you were skinny.

Pills and condoms.

Other: He got surgery (we don't want kids!)

My wife has been on the pill since she was 16 to help have a regular cycle.
04/15/2013
Hormonal pills along with withdrawal. I'm one of the lucky people that hormones seem to affect positively.
04/15/2013
IUD for me, until I can get sterilized.
04/16/2013
I take a birth control pill.

I have the implant now and it's been pretty good to me. I'd like to try a copper IUD just because I'd prefer a non-hormonal method. I'm not sure that I could remember to take a pill everyday and I like having my boyfriend come inside of me.

I tend to use just birth control.

You're right. Luteinizing hormone is the hormone secreted into the urine when a woman's body prepares to ovulate. Women with poly cystic ovarian syndrome often have high levels of the hormone at any given time of the month and can't reliably use ovulation tests because they're often positive most of the time, or close to.

I was on the pill, depo, Implanon, and now am on the IUD. I've been on it a bit less than a week, but I LOVE it so far! The first few days I had constant very mild pain, but now I forget it's there half the time!
04/16/2013
i've tried it all, the Depo shot screwed my body up so bad that it took 2 years to even have a period after stopping it, the IUD caused constant severe pain and after months of trying to adjust to it i had it removed, i cant remember to take the pill to save my life.... we're considering something more permanent :/

We used a combination of withdrawal and condoms before trying to get pregnant. I plan to get an IUD after the baby is born.
04/24/2013
I love my 10 year IUD it is the best birth control I have used
04/24/2013
Vasectomy. It has worked out great for me and my partner. Of course, I know that's not an option when I play with other guys, so I use condoms, always.

BC if possible

dating a female when i am ftm. i can't have any so neither can she

I have the mirania IUD. It's the best. At first I really did not like it.
But with me being plus size and my doctor discussing with me about
my Plus size and getting pregnant with my third child when using yaz
She said this was the best for me and my body. I was never regular.
Still not regular to this day. But I don't have to worry. I'm covered for another
Three years and after five years is up my husban will get surgery. That's if we
Really don't want anymore kids. But research is the best listen to your body
And talk to your doctor. Don't let them make decisions for you. I always
Wrote down questions I had days before my appt. that why I knew I covered
All my concerns. But if you can see almost every thing has a lawsuit behind. I think it's
How your body take to it. My body didnt get use to the IUD till like 4 months or so.

I know I dislike the patch, but the pill (regular) has worked for me.

Essure sterilization, I have to deal with my horrible periods again every 18-19 days, but it's better than being pregnant!
04/25/2013
We use both condoms and birth control pills, because you can never be too safe.
04/25/2013
HATE condoms, so does my woman. We like the regular BC pill. I would love it if she tried an IUD because she hates taking pills daily, but I've heard they can hurt like hell.
