PCOS- Do you have it?

Contributor: Beck Beck
I do not have it, I know I have no issues getting pregnant. Girl I grew up with found out she has it, and she is having hard time conceiving right now. I am sure that if you are meant to have a baby you will. Be patient, and have fun trying!

I have never been diagnosed with it, yet I have many of the symptoms (overweight, blood sugar issues, mild acne.) I've had MULTIPLE hormone panels since high school, though, so I would think that if I had it, one of the doctors would have said something. !

I have it, and since I also have an eating disorder, it makes my symptoms worse in some ways. The weight gain and insulin resistance whenever I start eating normally fuels my eating disorder, and the yo-yo weight loss makes my symptoms worse. I improved while on Metformin and Yasmin, but then I lost my insurance for awhile, and no doctors have wanted to put me back on Metformin, possibly because of my eating disorder history. I'm in therapy for it, but yeah.

It took me years to get diagnosed, because my periods have been regular from the beginning. I've never skipped completely and I've never been more than a week late. I also have a very good complexion at this point in my life. However, I have the insulin resistance, inability to control my weight, occasional mind-blowing pain from cysts bursting, painful periods, and masculinizing effects like losing head hair, growing thick, beard-like sideburns, a mustache, a heavy unibrow, thick arm hair... also, when my hormones get too out of whack (around ovulation and menstruation), I have intense migraines that cause my body to seize up. I really need to see an endocrinologist.

I have not been able to concieve naturally, I have PCOS. I am starting clomid in January and hopefully I will be able to conceive then. I have to watch what I eat because I do carry some pudge in my belly and have terribly irregualr periods but am ok right now. Who knows what the future with this holds though.

My sister-in-law also had PCOS, but she had excellent results with acupuncture. I'm living in the same town now, so I've been thinking about seeing her acupuncturist.

I was not diagnosed with PCOS until a couple years after I had my son, who was an 'accident'. So easy to conceive, but I do not think the PCOS fully set in until afterwards. To help with it I take a birth control pill to regulate my hormones and periods, and metformin because I started to became insulin resistant before I was diagnosed. The doctors actually did not catch mine, After having gone to the doctor's many times trying to figure out what was wrong with me, one day I finally came across an article about it and it explained everything that was going wrong. I used to take acne medication as well, but have recently been able to stop using it.

I don't have PCOS, but I'm pretty sure I have a cyst. I've been taking regular doses of apple cider vinegar with molasses and I haven't had any pain in a while, I definitely recommend it for anyone suffering from ovarian cysts.

I have PCOS, I eat like a horse and I workout a lot. If I do not remain ridiculously over active in sports, running, and weight training, I gain weight very fast and begin to have irregular periods.

I have PCOS-style symptoms (mostly hairiness and irregularity) and take a generic form of Yaz for BC, which has helped. Doctors are a little freaked out by my hairiness and want to put me on Spiro too (BC didn't help with the hairiness, but...I'm in no rush).

I feel like I 'lucked out' because I don't want kids, and I don't struggle with my weight. (Though I did gain weight pretty fast when I was on the 'wrong' pill, so I'm glad I stopped.) I was 25 before I had a doctor who knew what I was talking about.

I don't have PCOS but I have other ovarian issues and I've been advised that I could develop it. I don't have any of the symptoms besides the actual ovarian cysts.
