that happened to me once but it went away on it's own. and now i'm pretty regular again. i think it was due to my birth control. i'd still go to the doctor though. there's too many things that could be wrong to not go. a women's clinic will help you out without it costing too too much. something like planned parenthood or the local health department. also, i'd start taking iron supplements just to be on the safe side. that's what i did.

I'm sorry this happened to you, (I'm a nurse) but there is no such medical thing as "a seven year change."

Bleeding like that means something isn't right. A lost pregnancy, a loss of one twin of a twin pregnancy, a polyp on or in the cervix, a hormonal problem, adjusting to new hormonal birth control, endometriosis, some uterine fibroids. This isn't normal.

I had this happen to me and a few years later was diagnosed with endometriosis.

Planned Parenthood will see you for GYN issues, and I urge the OP to go asap. You can get seriously anemic and can actually lose enough blood to cause serious health problems. There are even worse things than endo or fibroids that can cause this kind of bleeding. It may be simply a weird period, but you NEED to have a midwife or GYNE see you asap.

Please.

I've updated on this already. I've been to the gyno and I've gotten it under control.

OK, sorry. I missed the posts where you did see a doctor. I'm glad you went. You won't be ovulating at all while on the pill, but you could have some mild breakthrough bleeding in the beginning.

I hope you stay well. Was your RBC (red blood count) normal? I'd talk to your doctor to see about that. Two months bleeding can make you not only anemic, but very iron and blood depleted and exhausted.

I hope you continue to improve. I'm glad you got medical care.

Don't know about the red blood count, but if there were any adverse effects aside from the pain I never noticed them - no exhaustion or anything like that. When I go back I'll definitely be asking questions, though. It'd be nice to figure out the cause of it all if possible.

Though incidentally, I didn't know menstrual blood, even as much as I was bleeding, could make you anemic. I was always under the impression that only a very small percentage of it is actually blood. Am I mistaken? I know you've got a background in this sort of thing, so I wouldn't mind learning a bit more from you.
