I kind of hate Mississippi right now

This certainly isn't going to stop people from choosing to terminate pregnancies, even if they have to drive to a neighboring state to do so. However, this isn't just happening in Mississippi. There seems to be a nationwide attack on ... more
Already doing that too! I live in a conservative part of California. I do what I can to help fight against all the absurdity. Thank you for doing the same.

My pregnancy was dead and in pieces before any procedure was performed. A D&C is a common procedure, but I didn't need to be treated badly because I had to have the placental tissue removed so I wouldn't bleed to death, yanno? By the time I got into the OR there was no fetal tissue left (I had passed it naturally) and the D&C was purely placental tissue.

Thank you for caring. It was a long time ago, I've had 2 live babies since, and I'm good.

Seconded, it's just not so black and white. Plus, you didn't explain what these "alternatives" truly are.
What I was saying is, there ARE no "alternatives&quo t; to abortion. Preterm birth simply isn't an option for a pregnancy that can't be carried. I think Peggi said she thought there were "alternatives&quo t; but medically, there simply aren't any. My point is, too, that there aren't any artificial uteruses (as the Pro-Lifers would have us think) nor do we have the technology to "transfer embryos" or early pregnancies from one woman to an other.

I've been told (with great gusto) both are used "in Europe" or "in South America" from people like my mother, who believes anything she is told, if it fits her agenda. But there aren't any technologies to "save" a pregnancy that would otherwise result in abortion. I've worked in the field and am keeping up with the data, so if there were.... there would still be problems.

WHO would pay for such a thing?

Would the "conception mother" have the right to her pregnancy after she "gave it up?"

What if the fetus is damaged in the (now impossible) "transfer" and the "new mother" no longer wants it? (And working with a lot of fertility patients I can see this as a common occurrence, IF pregnancy transfers were even technically possible.)

Artificial uteruses and pregnancy "transfers" even if they were possible will come with their own set of issues.

I am sorry to hear you went through that. The ignorance of some people astounds me. What exactly do they expect to happen? Should a woman who has a dead fetus inside of her just leave it there, and if she dies from septic conditions, it was G-d's will?

Living in the Bible Belt, I hear more than my share of the crap that's "God's will."

I'm reading a very interesting book right now called "America's War on Sex", by Marty Klein, PhD. The book covers everything discussed in this discussion and more. I highly reccomend it.
