It kind of freaks me out, although I don't want to judge anyone who's had it and is happy with it. It just seems dangerous and unnecessary in most cases to me. Social pressure to have perfect tiny labia? Really??
How do you feel about labiaplasty?

Women should be able to do whatever they want with their bodies, but there's no way to divorce this pressure from pornography and society in general. I find it very sad and disappointing, but if it makes a woman feel better and navigate body policing better than by all means do what you need to do.

I have actually thought about having surgery to get mine fixed or made over so to speak for some reason or another one of my labias is way longer then the other. I hate it I have been asked by a partner what is wrong with you :'( and others how loved it as the like sucking on it. Either way I am very self conscience about it and hate it so much. It gets in the way when receiving oral or when I am being played with by hand :'(

It makes me sad when women do it just for self esteem. All vagina's are beautiful

So where do you stand? Is it always okay or only in certain cases, or is it abhorrent in more ways than one? Why?
Please note that this poll is referring to the voluntary cosmetic procedure of labiaplasty. FGM is a whole other can of worms that I'm sure any decent individual would argue against. less

I think it's dependent on the woman. Something completely unnecessary is a not right. I mean, I don't think we should control what people can and can't do. But personally I think it should only be done for health issues or serious self-esteem issues.

I don't think it's like a liposuction procedure. You can't lose it or change it own your own so surgery would be the only way to change it if it's causing problems.

I think if someone wants to change the way they look, they should be able to - Without any judgement.

I really hate that women are made to feel that their natural appearance is ugly and they want to change it. And when TV or porn or doctors all talk about how they can 'fix' a woman's labia to be more 'normal' I want to scream! There's NOTHING wrong with your labia, no matter how big or short or uneven they are! Every woman is unique and the right partner will love whatever you have.
And any man that says anything differently shouldn't have the pleasure of being with yours anymore. Also tell him his penis is ugly too.
Everyone should check this out :

I completely agree with this. It's up to the individual and no one else really has the right to tell them otherwise.

Personally, I am not always thrilled with the way my inner and outer labia look. I've had 2 kids and the way I look there REALLY changed. Still, I don't think I'll ever have surgery to change that look. To me it's kind of like the stretch marks I got from pregnancy: a reminder of a wonderful thing my body did.
I hope this makes some sense. I've not had coffee yet. less

If your partner calls your anatomy strange, weird, ugly, etc ...get rid of them, they are inconsiderate of your feelings.
That being said, it's fine if a woman wants to change her own body. It's sad if they're only doing it to fit in with the trendy look. All vulvas are beautiful.
kind of like flowers.

I really don't care if someone wants to get this done for whatever reason they may have...it is their labia.
