I'm way too old as well, in all likelihood I've already been exposed years ago. However, I did get my son vaccinated.

i don't generally trust most new vaccines. i got my childhood vaccines but was in my 20's when gardisil hit the market and i'm just skeptical. i have too many concerns about the long term safety of vaccines in general.

Yeah, it was the most painful vaccine I remember getting. I couldn't even get a hug for a while it hurt so much for me.

Nope, too old. Not sure if I would get it, even if I had the option.

I got one but I passed out. That's the only side effect of this vaccine, go figure! I think everyone, even boys, should get it. There's no reason not to.

Even though I am all for vaccines, something about this one seems off to me, always has. Partly it's I don't think they followed the test subjects long enough. Partly it's that the company really pushed and lobbied for it to be required for schools.

I don't get vaccines for the most part, unless required.

I got it when I was pretty young, maybe 13 or 14 because my doctor recommended it.

I got the first shot in the series but missed my follow up shot and just never rescheduled.

I got it when it first came out. Oddly, I don't remember it hurting like a mutha like so many other people complain. I did have some flulike symptoms afterward, though.

This happened to me too. But now they just have one shot instead of a series. So, you can go back to the doctor and get the one time vaccine now. That is what I did like a year or two ago. My doctor told me it was safe to get the one time vaccine even after I had done the first part of the series without following up.

It is so easy! and really worth it!

Bettle590, read my comment I left Taylor.... theres a one time shot now and you can go get that even though you already started the series of shots...

I wish it had been one shot when I got it at 18. I don't mind shots at all, but it was a real pain making the hour long trip back to my hometown from college three times because my mom scheduled them there instead of finding somewhere in my college town where I could get them. Just because of my class schedule I barely made it to the health office before they closed each time.

no. I was going to, but my primary care doctor was vehemently against it! He thinks it's under-tested and a scam by the Pharmaceutical company.

I admit that I am still kind of torn on the issue.

I was actually one of the test subjects at 18. I felt that the vaccine was perfectly safe because there was no live or dead virus. The vaccine is made up of the outer protein shell of the virus. All the other preservatives and components are typical of other vaccines. Unfortunately, the vaccine only takes care of the 4 most common types of HPV. There are hundreds of types. But there is a hypothesis that if you are vaccinated against some, your body will be better able to fight the other types.

While I have nothing against vaccines in general, there's just something about Gardasil that I don't like. I plan on keeping myself AND my kids as far away from it as possible.
