It's rarely me that doesn't want sex - but I don't make excuses if it happens. My wife on the other hand used the tired and headache excuses on a regular basis - thankfully she doesn't do that anymore. Now when she says she's too tired or has a headache (it happens), I can believe her and give her the space she needs to recover.
Excuses vs. Reasons

I have no reason to make an excuse. Usually I'm just tired, and I can't enjoy it when I'm tired, so I just say so. We can make up for it in the morning

I almost never say no to sex. The only situation I can think of is that I'm on my period which I'm upfront about.

There is no need for me to lie so I just tell it like it is. I might lie if I was with someone as a hook up and the reason was embarrassing or they would think it was a lie or I just wanted to get out as soon as possible, but not with my partner.

How often are your reasons actually honest?

I tell the truth. Nobody worth having sex with would make a big deal if I legitimately didn't want to
