Mistressdead, you are so right! Those Europeans really know how to eat. Their food is delicious, but still healthy. I don't know how we missed out on that development here in the US...It's so unfortunate. I spent a month in Spain in high school and I lost about 15 lbs, just from the change in my diet!! When I came back to the US and started eating normally again, I threw up after almost every meal. It was a shock to my system. That tells you something REALLY important about the way that we eat here...My body certainly doesn't like it!

They most certainly do! The food is way different from here, even the simple things like ketchup, salad dressing, soda, candy, etc. Everything tasted a lot different when I came back from the Netherlands to the US and tried eating what I normally did! I think I was sick for weeks having to eat foods that I loved. I still miss some of the foods they have over there and am contemplating bribing a friend to bring a suitcase full of things when he comes to visit, but we'll see on that!
And yeah, there are some places in the US you can find certain speciality foods that they have over in Europe. I just recently found out a store here is now selling a Dutch treat called "Speculoos" which is basically cookie "butter", or rather cookies crushed up into a spreadable paste.. like Nutella! Trader Joes sells it, but that's way expensive. I think the US needs to take a look at what Europe is doing and try to fix some of the problems food wise.
