I don't use it but I wish I had it for my periods. They're very confused most of the time.

I selected the pills, because that's what I'm on now, but something (NuvaRing or anti-depressants) disrupted my sex drive roughly a year back, and it's still a little wavery. I'm no longer on the NuvaRing or the anti-depressants, and I wonder if the pills are contributing to the problem!

Unfortunately, condoms aren't for us. The boy would literally and truly prefer to just never have sex (and that's pretty impressive for him) rather than use them.

What we're looking at now is to just never have vaginal sex. This is a disappointment to us both, but there are plenty of other ways to enjoy ourselves, and I think I'll try a new pill after a few months away from all the hormone cocktails. I just want to get away from all the mood swings, lack of sex drive, and "OH GOD DID I TAKE THE PILL TODAY?" panic moments for a while, and quite frankly, after putting up with me through all that, the boy deserves a blowjob or twenty (he's been wonderful and so understanding!). Of course, so do I, I think. Or.. whatever the girl equivalent is.

It's not all bad, though! If I was not in a heavily committed relationship, I'd still take the pills or the NuvaRing just to make the periods easier (or just go away altogether!).

The little creature that runs around my home is the result of pulling out. He's cute and says some funny stuff so I keep him around.

I was on generic Ortho Tri Cyclen, it was okay but it wasn't great and I'm absent-minded. I switched to the Nuva Ring. Oh holy cow, instant psycho bitch with a decreasing sex drive! Got off of that one after a few months.

I had a copper IUD inserted on Halloween of 2007. I love it, my periods aren't really heavier, maybe a little bit but they were pretty light before. And they're over within 3 days or less. Sometimes I think I might get a bit more crampy but I don't think it's much different. I considered reentering the pill world at the beginning of this year, I thought that I wanted the hormonal stability, so my gyno let me try them before removing my IUD. Yeah, the Loestrin Fe had me still bleeding CONSTANTLY after 2 or 3 months. I was so tired, so sick, and my non-red meat eating self was constantly craving big huge burgers because I was anemic. I tried another one, I forget what, and quickly decided that I just did not want to be on the pill. I do love my IUD.

I use Seasonale (birth control pills) and love it! It makes me regular and I only have my period 4 times a year.

I currently have an IUD. It needs replacing some time next year, so I'll probably switch to the pill instead then.

I use birth control pills and condoms. Sometimes I do forget to grab my pills when I go out, so I need the condoms. Also, I have to live with my parents for now, so condoms make it easier to have sex without them noticing. I work at night and sleep during the day, so we usually have sex when everyone is awake and eating breakfast, instead of when everyone is sleeping. If I didn't use a condom, I'd need to clean myself up in the bathroom, which means my mom would probably notice.

My husband had a vasectomy a couple years after our son was born. Previous to that I was on the pill for 7 years or so. I stopped taking it shortly after his vasectomy and it took my body nearly 5 years to readjust to being off the pill.

I started with the pill.

Then I skipped a few days, got afraid to become pregnant (we slipped up during sex and I got the Plan B pill).

I got the nuvaring after that. After a while I got tired of having it. I had to take it out everytime I had sex bcs my guy found it annoying.

So I got an IUD! Which I have had for a few years now. I find it so convenient, no periods, no messes or having products to buy. Sex anytime I want. But my cervix is sensitive as hell...thats the major drawback for me.

Birth control has more benefits than just the contraception part. Someone above me in the comments may have covered that already.

I use a combination of hormonal birth control pills, condoms any time PIV intercourse happens, and occasional withdrawal.

I have been on Tri-Sprintec (Generic version of Ortho Tri-cyclen) for about a year. I haven't had any problems whatsoever. Before that I took Loestrin-24. I had horrible problems with Loestrin- daily migraines and always had breakthrough bleeding not to mention no sex-drive whatsoever.

I used to be on hormonal birth control but I ditched it in favor of condoms. Overall it's been a positive move for us. ^_^

Same here, minus the last child bit. We've never wanted kids but waited a while just to make sure. He had it two years ago and with the exception of some pain the first couple of days after and some quality time with a bag of frozen peas he's had zero problems.

We have used mostly withdrawal for 10 or so years, condom sometimes in the beginning. There have been no definite pregnancy situations, only one spill accident. I took the "morning after pill" soon after that.

There are things about prescribed methods that make them unappealing to me--like for some a libido loss is common. I have a big enough libido problem. And with the pill, it seems you should have some kind of schedule--I don't. I'd forget to take my pill all the time. There are a lot of drawbacks to these methods. I've explored my options and I don't know if I like any.

A vasectomy would be cool, I have seen plenty on them as I read childfree discussions. But we aren't really about doctors handling our wobbly bits if it isn't necessary.

Perhaps our reliance on my partner's control is folly, but it's worked well for us!
