I am on the pill, though before I was, the condom did break a couple of times. I just got Plan B the next morning in both cases, which is really just another method of birth control, just not something to be using all the time.
Whats your experience on birth control?

Ive been on the pill for several years and no babies!! (knock on wood)

Other! The hormones in birth control (the patch, pill, and even the "light" hormone pill) negativitely affected my cardiovascular system. I knew I started feeling pretty bad and my health started to fall but none of my doctors seemed to notice, care, or suspect my birth control until it was almost too late.
The birth control raised my blood pressure a LOT, gave me heart palpitations, and ER-worthy migrains. When I was 19 I was hospitalized with my first serious migraine. I had vertigo, was unable to keep even water down, let alone food, for three days, was throwing up bile, and was starting to black out from starvation. I was afraid of being called a hypochondriac and never told someone I was ill until a hallmate caught me running into a wall from weakness.
When they rushed me into the ER, I was seen almost immediately and had nursing staff hovering all around me while my vitals were taken. I was a nursing student at the time and was curious as to my temp and blood pressure since the nurses were freaking out over me but they refused to let me see. My dad drove a 3-hour distance in just 2 and came to sit with me in the hospital. I didn't find out until a long time later that my blood pressure was in the danger range for a stroke and my dehydration level was critically high.
I also learned later that birth control should never be used by someone who has a personal or family history of strokes, heart attacks, or other cardiovascular problems as it increases the risk of death from all of the above. None of my doctors cared a rat's ass to help prevent me from nearly dying.
Oh and I got PCOS that year as well. Yay.
Soooo, I'm not a fan of birth control.

Pretty surprised how many people here have gotten pregnant while taking the pill. Might make me reconsider using more protection.
01/19/2011
I only recently started taking the pill. I'm still trying to get myself on a schedule.
01/20/2011
stopped using it after i came out but some of my close friends and family have used different types and never been pregnant (they also use condoms to though)

Being overweight contributes to how effective the pill will be. If you're overweight/obese, it doesn't work as well.

I use Nuva Ring plus condoms, no pregnancies luckily.

ive had a few scares with using condoms

Had one scare on the pill when dating, but other then that, sponges, condoms and gel all worked...till I was on the pill. Never got pregnant till it was time to, thankfully.

It's always worked, but I've had several 'scares' due to paranoia!
07/23/2011
I'm about to start the pill, I really hope I don't have any scares!
07/23/2011
Condoms and pulling out have worked flawlessly for 5 years.
07/23/2011
I use nuva ring, before that the patch. Never been prego.
07/23/2011
Nuva ring works for me. No pregnancies.

I began the pill last month, and the hormones triggered seizure symptoms (my epilepsy hasn't bothered me in about 7 years), so I didn't have many chances to see if it halted pregnancy or not. I chose to take the pill because I wanted to make sure sex was extra safe, but now it's back to just condoms. Teading this thread makes me nervous, but a healthy kind of nervous: we should be prepared for every possible outcome.

some scares but not preg!

Pill and condoms. We're 27. Nothings gone wrong yet.

I've had scares, where my period was late, and I wondered if something had gone wrong. Once I was completely convinced I was pregnant - can't remember what bc I was using at the time, but when my period started, I sat in the bathroom crying.
Now I'm childless by choice, and in perimenopause, so I definitely don't want a slip up now in the late innings.

I've been on Implanon for about 5 months now and everything has been fine so far. When I first started taking the pill a few years ago I was taking Loestrin Fe and everything was fine for a year and a half until I started bleeding in between periods.

I was being incredibly paranoid so I had a scare.
02/18/2012
I'm bad about forgetting to take it. Had a couple scares because of it.
02/19/2012
there is always that slight fear when he doesn't wear a condom.
02/19/2012
I took the pill for over a year, and I had a couple scares. I forgot to take it at the same time everyday, so obviously, that was my problem.
I'm not on the shot, and i don't know if I like it. It makes me irritable but I like that, when combined with condoms, I have almost no chance of pregnancy.

Use pills and condoms and I'm still baby free.
02/26/2012
Never gotten pregnant to my knowledge, but did have one or two scares >.< sucks.
02/27/2012
I've never heard of the pill failing if you take it all the time.
02/28/2012
I've take my BC pills at the same time every day for the past four years with no scares/pregnancies. My partner and I never use any other type of protection.
