Cum Inside? When's It "Safe?"

Also, there's a chance you just haven't found the right bc pill. I know you've said you don't like hormones, but for everyone who's had a bad experience with one pill and then decides pills in general arent for you, you're making a big mistake. Even pills with the same dosage can cause your body to react differently. Some people do best on really super low doses, some medium doses, and some like one of my friends need like the highest estrogen dose available. The shot is horrible and really messes with your system, and in fact, that's exactly what it's supposed to do. Pills are more about finess, you have to find the right one.

What about getting a diaphragm? You just put that in when you know you are going to have sex and leave it in for some time. It is non hormonal you just have to get fitted for one, it is like a cervical cap. And one is good for long time, this is what I am thinking about if I ever need non hormonal birth control.

And really there is no safe time because it takes up to 7 days for the sperm to travel and fertilize the egg so you aren't ovulating that day but than few days later you are and the sperm is still active and alive in there you could still get pregnant.

Just saw that you also said you are allergic to latex, did you ask your dr if there is anything else they can be made out of?

Sorry edit again, but was reading they make silicone ones also.

diaphragms.

Oh my! That must be a nice change for you though I can't imagine pushing my boyfriend to do something he's truly not comfortable with, personally.

Well remember I said not necessarily that I don't like hormones, though there is the fact that it messes with your body's natural rhythm, and I simply don't like that. I want my body to work how it's supposed to, and I'd rather work with its natural cycles than try to dictate how it should work by putting extra hormones in me. But my doctor refuses to prescribe me a hormonal birth control method anyway, and highly recommends I never use one, because of a family history of certain health issues that could have been avoided by not using hormonal birth control, such as stroke. Does that make sense?

Oh my gosh, I didn't know they made them out of anything other than latex! I'll definitely talk to my doctor about that when I finally do have this talk. Something I can insert and not have to remember in the heat of the moment would be wonderful. Thank you!

I've had a lot of luck with the Mirena IUD. I've had it about 10 months, and have almost stopped having a period all together, which, I'm not going to lie, is super awesome. We also haven't had any scares, and haven't used a condom since, so double the fun! The procedure to put it in was like a really uncomfortable pap smear, with a bit of pain during the insertion, and you are a bit sensitive a few days after, but overall, very easy. They just handed me an 800 milligram ibuprofen and sent me on my merry way. Good luck!

I appreciate the suggestion, but I can't get hormones. Someone suggested an IUD that uses copper instead of hormones, and it sounds good, but I don't handle cervical pain well, soooooo yeah. We'll see ^^;;

From my PoV (as an IUD user), the pain of getting an IUD is minimal compared to the pain that is associate with pregnancy, carried to term or not.

If you truly can't handle cervical pain, then you can't handle childbirth.

I'm going to have to put my vote in for an IUD as well. It seems like everything else isn't really an option for you. I have Mirena, myself, but Paragard is also perfectly great. So far, I am absolutely completely THRILLED to have my IUD. The insertion was very painful, but lasted about 30-40 seconds, and honestly it was completely worth every bit of pain to have no worry of pregnancy. I'd recommend you check out the IUD_Divas community on livejournal if you're interested. There's a lot of great information available there!

i would look into getting an IUD for sure. Google it. You can get more concrete advice and information on some medical sites than on this forum.

for using the withdrawal method or the rhythm method, look that up as well online.

although it has been said as well that the rhythm method was created by doctors who assumed every woman ovulates at the same time. you may not ovulate when the rhythm method states. only way to be sure is to measure your temperature, same time every morning... and... really there's just no way to be sure.

it's risky no matter what. unless you get an IUD.

on the other hand. i may very well be infertile, bc i've been using the rhythm method and letting him come in me on occasion for years. never gotten pregnant. so... maybe i'm infertile. or lucky.
