My IUD is for pregnancy prevention. I'm paranoid about getting pregnant because I don't ever want children.
What is your main reason for using contraception/birth control?

Birth control.

Not financially ready to take on a child right now

Regulating my periods.

When I did, it was for pregnancy prevention and not only that, I was taking the pill which eliminated my period all together, an added plus. Now I'm past that age and no longer need to worry about it and having one partner I don't need to use it for anything else.

First it was pimples now it is pimples and birth control.

Although i like the fact that BC helps prevent unwanted pregnancies, i started to take the pill to regulate my periods for my PCOS by way of suggestion from my gynecologist.

When I did, it was for period control. Wound up almost being killed by a particular type of birth control, so I haven't been on one that isn't bad for my health since.

There are many different methods of contraception out there, but I would imagine that most people have multiple reasons for actually using them. So I am curious: what are the reasons EF users take/use a method of birth control?

I never wanted to use BC and am not having vaginal intercourse, but I did start a year ago when I found out my sister was diagnosed with endometriosis and the doctor's told me I was 5 times as likely to get it and the only preventative method was BC.
I was started on progestin only pills due to my migraines, and it was the worst experience ever. My body hated me and I had such horrible side effects that I won't go into detail here.
I moved to Depo, which worked swimmingly, but I felt so dysregulated all of the time. Eventually I just decided that if I am going to get endo, then so be it.
I can't continue to deal with messing with my body.

I am focusing on pregnancy prevention because I am fluid bonded with my partners. When engaging with new partner, STD prevention is just as important.

I started out taking them for period regulation, but now it's for pregnancy prevention. I wanted to be sterilized, but unfortunately the Essure sterilization only worked on one of my tubes (the other tube is too big and the coil fell out. Before anyone says it, no it cannot be put back in and no, they do not come in multiple sizes.
I can't afford the traditional surgery to tie the other tube, so now I have a copper IUD.
I don't want kids, ever, so until I can afford the surgery on the other tube and my fiance can afford his vasectomy (yes, we're going both) I have to use the IUD.

I don't currently use any form of BC. I actually used a condom for the first time last month cause i was on my period. I hated it. It was terrible and I didn't enjoy the sex with it on.

I chose 'other' because my partner and I only use condoms because he is worried about impregnating me. I'm not worried about it but it's something he's very concerned about.

I don't like the idea of foreign medicines in me personally, so I've avoided BC. I don't think I'll ever take it.

Predominantly pregnancy prevention, but my periods are also INSANE without birth control, so it helps for that too.
