I would find another dr. and ask about one of the many progesterone creams that are available. They are low-concentration, over-the-counter (I have friends who buy theirs online) and you can massage just a little bit into your pubic area, stomach OR your breasts to be absorbed. It's helped many women I know who are trying to increase drive, even out PMS or even perimenopause symptoms but don't want to go on medication. It's a good in-between choice to try.
You can also get at-home hormone testing kits! This link might help. He is a reputable dr. who wrote THE book on pre-menopause and what women can do to take charge of their hormones as they cycle through these phases of life. (I assume you are not going through pre-menopause officially, BUT the advice for hormonal imbalance is the same!) link
