Always use a lube if using a fleshlight or other sleeve. Never need it if using just my hand.

Males: Do you use lubricant while masturbating?
06/30/2011
No I'm not a fan of using lubes for masturbation. I find it to me more of a hassle than it's worth.
06/30/2011
I use lube when using my Fleshlight or Flip Hole, otherwise I don't bother.

Lubricant helps sometimes

I usually do not use lube when I masturbate because of the clean up.
07/10/2011
Almost never. Though we've been doing some research on lube and I am very temped to try some silicone tube.

I do about 1/3 of the time. The feeling is different from a 'dry' jerk, and the lubricant adds to the overall sensation.
Which reminds me... brb.

Don't feel I need to as I am uncut

Mostly no lube but sometimes it feels amazing!

My boyfriend almost never uses it, though he tends to have lotion in every room of his home. It blew his mind when I used it on him a long time ago, and he still usually prefers it when I use lube on him for handjobs.

So it keeps blowing the book's theories out of the water.
This made me curious. How many of you males (or others answering for partners) use lubricant for masturbation? less

I almost never do, unless it is really easy to get to, or I'm using a sleeve or something...cleaning up is more of a hassle.

My boyfriend never has. He has never understood socks, lotion, etc. He finds it weird. When I give him a handjob, there is absolutely none needed.

I use some form of lubricant when I masturbate, but it isn't a have to have, it just feels better. My thinking is my wife's vagina isn't dry when we have sex, so lubricant just simulates a wet vagina.

I'll use lubricant for masturbation if it isn't too much of a hassle. (Bottle nearby, etc.)

9 times out of 10 I do.

I use lubricant always when I’m stroking my manhood however if I am using the wand I don’t use lubricant

From my perspective as a woman who has given handjobs, whether or not the guy is circumcised seems to make a big difference in whether or not lube is required. Those who have a foreskin don't seem to need much (if any) lube, while those who lack a foreskin seem to require lube (unless they actually enjoy all that friction, which some do, though I personally don't really enjoy jacking off circumcised penises without lube).

Eh, I could go either way on the topic. Honestly, it just depends on where I am when I'm masturbating. By that, I mean if I'm sitting at my desk watching a sexy adult movie and fantasizing about the partner, then I usually don't reach for the lube. On the other hand, if I'm sitting in bed and reading a sexy book/article or watching/listing to something sexy then I'll reach for the lube and to add some data to CuriousFun answer, I'm in the circumcised camp and prefer a very smooth non sticky water based lube.

Lube is not as fun. Good dry handjob is best

I never use lube, but I think it might because I'm not circumcised. Growing up I never had the need for lube, and I never really understood the point of it. I guess with foreskin you don't have any friction and you get all the pleasure you need.

When I met my (circumcised) partner I learned that he pretty much has to use it to be able to masturbate. I guess it's because his hands act as the foreskin as he goes up and down, and you wouldn't be able to do that without lube (since there would just be too much friction).

That's interesting. Personally, I'd much rather stroke a circumcised guy's dick without lube, though only if he was left with enough skin to slide a bit still. Maybe that's because (as you noted) being uncircumcised myself I've never used lube to masturbate and thus didn't get acclimated to that super slippery sensation. In point of fact, really, I often try to skip over the handjob phase altogether with cut guys, it just feels unnatural, which is such a shame because trading handjobs with another uncut guy is one of my all-time favorite activities.

If you masturbate with a toy, then always.
And if it's just like that with my hand, then I don't use it at all.

Lubricant provides a "wet" sensation which adds to the sensitivity. However, if lubricant is not readily available when the mood strikes, dry masturbation produces the same desired result, but generally takes longer to achieve an orgasm.
