I'm a 34A and cups are usually too large
Built-in cups in lingerie?

I got their Raspberry Fields babydoll, and the way that they constructed it, they could have easily made the cups larger than they chose to without alienating those with smaller breasts. It didn't make a whole lot of sense to me, because the lace would have looked flattering covering more skin without being frumpy or anything - I mean, it's see through!

I know, right? I have no idea why they do that, but you're right, they even do it with the soft cups. It's weird.

Regarding my comment about target lingerie markets and porn stars: I was referring to the stereotypical slim, bleached-blond, spray-tanned, silicone-enhanced ladies one sees in some commercial porn--not the lovely natural women who can be seen in many independent productions. No offense was intended to anyone who chooses to make a living in that profession, including women who decide to surgically change their appearance. I just notice that most large lingerie companies use enhanced women to model their creations, on whom they seem to fit very well...only to look odd on a natural-breasted woman. Ya know? It has the effect of making non-enhanced women feel less attractive.

After my trip to a lingerie shop yesterday, in which I tried over 20 outfits on, I must say that the ones with cups in them tended to run big for me--and I'm somewhere between 34B-34C-36B, depending on the time of month, so I'm not tiny! In some styles, because of my small waist, I was able to wear a Small instead of my usual Medium, and make it work. I do have fuller hips, though, so I can't always do that. The corsets, too, seemed to be designed for women with silicone enhancement, because on me--a 38-year-old woman who's never had children--most of them simply flattened my chest. I know, I know, you get what you pay for...still, I wonder why the designers wouldn't design for their target market (unless their target market is actually porn stars?). Anyhow, It sounds like these S/M/L/XL/etc.-cup sizes are problematic for many of us, yet we keep buying them.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I usually just wear the wrong size.

Cups are always too large for my bust

Too small.

Well, since that style has lace triangle cups, they actually WOULD look wrong on a smaller bust if they were too big. A triangle cup should leave some of the cleavage-area uncovered (whether there's actual cleavage there or not), and if the triangle covers the entire breast like a full-coverage bra, it just makes one's bust look smaller, and as though it's being swallowed by the fabric, sheer lace or not.

usually too small ugh

Too big for my boobies and I wear a C. I guess companies think if you wear a size 22 you have huge bazoomas!

I guess perhaps that we have different experiences - I've seen a few (I was going to say "plenty" but I feel like since it's been only five or six, that would be exaggerating to make a point) girls with small busts look fantastic in larger lace triangle cups. I didn't find that it was unflattering or made their chests look smaller in the least. Perhaps you and I simply have different tastes. =)

It is frustrating how they scale things as if they expect that your waist size is the only determining factor in your bust - if only we could tell them to swap all of the cups in our lingerie. You and I could have fitting pieces, at least.

I answered for my wife. She usually finds the cups too small.

I like them but hard to find the right fit

The bout of frustration that I'm suffering over Coquette's gorgeous new lingerie and how I can't wear it has got me thinking. How many women on here (or anyone with breasts, really) are actually satisfied with the size of built-in cups within your ideal size? I am aware that nothing is going to change, I'm just feeling whingy and rather than crying about it, I'd like to stimulate a discussion on the subject. Since it's impossible to cover every angle through a multiple-choice poll, please pick the one that is generally true and make any addendums that you'd like in the comments. =)
