Would You Bring Worn Underwear to a Dry Cleaner?
09/28/2010
Ew. No way. I don't want a stranger handling my delicate things.

No, I would not. I just bring coats and expensive dresses to the dry cleaners, but not my lingerie.

I agree completely with this one. Corsets, bustiers, things like that can be sent, but actual lingerie? I'll dry clean at home

Nope. Hand washing is good enough for me.

oh i didn't read the whole post, i thought you meant just panties. Wouldn't bring panties in, but if i had a corset or something like that, and it says dry clean only i would.

Nope!

Dry cleaning is expensive, and there are plenty of other methods. Hand washing, or the use of those dryer kits (put the dryer on No Heat for silk), the lingerie bag or pillow case method, the powder it with baking soda and vacuum it method (which I wouldn't try for undies, but it works great on dry-clean only suits), or for some things, use the dishwasher instead of the washing machine, to avoid the tumbling part of the experience. That last does not work for anything that's not supposed to get wet, of course, and most dishwashers don't have the cold only option, but it's fantastic for washing hats that need to hold their shape.

If it was a reputable cleaners that I was familiar with I probably would.
10/20/2010
sure why not

I wouldn't take panties to the dry cleaners, but I would definitely take a custom-made corset or bustier.
You can by-pass taking them by buying a home dry cleaning kit for your dryer. You should be able to find it at Wal-Mart, Target, and other such stores.

I think hand washing or a lingerie bag on delicate cycle would be best. My washing machine also has a hand wash setting in addition to the delicate setting.

I'd probably just handwash them...for some reason I feel like some creep would sniff them haha

Maybe it's been too long since I bought some fancy underwear, and that it's been too long since I cleaned clothes other than with a delicate cycle, and that my reaction is odd. Still I'm not interested, and I want to know if anyone got suggestions as to bypass cleaning silk panties with dry cleaning? Would handwash still work?
The poll question is this, would you bring your underwear to a dry cleaner? Corsets, busters, bras, panties, and the like. less

No way! I think I'd stick with hand washing, or using a lingerie bag on the delicate cycle. For me though, no way would I take them to a dry cleaner!

I would do the same thing. I can't remember the last time I took anything to the dry cleaners, but I really try not to get dry clean only clothes. It's such a pain!

I think even silk underwear can be hand washed. I just swish the water with the detergent in in through the clothing, let it sit for a while, swish again, rinse and gently squeeze (do not squeeze too hard) and then roll in a towel to absorb the excess water and then let air dry on a drying rack or a towel rack. It's always worked for me. Lie the underwear out the way they should look when they are drying, so they will dry in the right shape. less

No. I'd either handwash, wash it in a lingerie bag, or buy one of those products that lets you dry clean your clothes at home. Pretty much if I wouldn't wear it out in public, I wouldn't bring it to the dry cleaners!

I have never taken anything to the dry cleaner's. I would think you could wash them at home.
04/12/2011
I've always taken care of my own unmentionables.

depends how 'used'

No, I don't buy dry clean only panties.

I chose other because I'm actually in the same dilemma. I have 2 lingerie pieces. One a corset, the other a 3 piece garter set that says dry clean! I really, really don't do dry clean except with my nice jackets. I have dresses that are silk and other delicates that I handwash even though it says dry clean and it works. I think I'd rather handwash my lingerie and undies. If it's going to hurt the pieces though, I guess I'd consider dry clean. I don't care for the prices, but I am a major cheapie

Bras & bustiers, if I needed to, but panties no way! I'd prefer to handwash if desperate.

I think hand washing would work. I've hand washed silk blouse. It shouldn't ruin the panties tbh.
