I'm wondering, because I've been doing some really picky shopping lately. I mean, if I'm going to spend my money on a toy, it better be one I'm really going to use and enjoy. You know?

What's the First Thing You Look For When Shopping For a Realistic Dildo/Dildo?

I want my next realistic dildo to be non-porous, easy to clean, compatible with water based lube or better yet all lubes, sterilizable, not too large or too small, and silicone if silicone is the next.

Size is a big thing for me. The larger sizes that I like often come in terrible materials. I am thinking about going for the General by Tantas... it's a wonderful size and made of silicone.

The first thing we look for when shopping is non-latex items. After that, size and price are major deciding points, although there are a few materials we generally skip regardless of price.

I am super picky as well. Only problem is that I absolutely love the realistics, and most of them are low on the safety rating. Haven't tried rubber yet and I am a little nervous to because I read everywhere that it smells horrid.

When searching, I look for size first. Quickly becoming a size queen, but I don't generally care for anything less than an inch and a half in diameter. I will settle for less if it is something special (classy looking glass or ceramic dildo) but I generally prefer 1 3/4"
I love texture as well, but in this case texture= what the skin feels like (not if it has swirls, bumps, etc). If it doesn't feel cyberskin-ey than I don't consider it realistic.
Haven't tried any of the higher end dils yet, but I have quite a few on my wish list.

Oh god I have been drooling over that one lately... I just finished up an anime where there was a character named the General. *Drool* Can you say Fan-ta-say!?

Gotta say the lacking of latex is a big one for me, being that I'm allergic to it. Besides that, price and rating.

The absolute first thing, is silicone toy. Then it goes to size then it goes to cost.

First and foremost: material. I am done with jelly toys, forever!
Second: size. Nothing too huge, thank you very much.
Third: price.

Definitely size and shape. Something will never work for me, no matter what the material or features, if the size and shape aren't compatible with my body.

The main thing I look for is size.

Size, cost, and whether it's sterilizable. These are of great importance.

The important factors for dildos for me are size/length/girth, nasty chemical free, unscented and color!
11/28/2010
Safety, size, durability and design.

I'm looking for sterilizability first and foremost. Then length, width and harness compatibility.

Ahem, I check for a flared base in case I want it for anal. (and that it's sterilizable, but if not, condoms work)

I like any dildo that I buy to have a realistic head. I like some of the odder shaped ones, or smoothed shaped ones, too, but if it looks like a real penis head, I'm salivating and ready to whip out my wallet. Oh, and if it has a nice shaft shape, realistic...yeah, I'm down with that, too.

I look for silicone items for safety reasons and I like veins but not ridges. I also want it to be much larger than the average sized cock. It's all about the fantasy and the more realistic the better, except when it comes to size. The bigger the better!!

Material- safety is our highest priority. 100 % Silicone is our preferred material for dildos. Glass and stainless are also included for non-thrusting activities.
The second most important factor for us is size. If it is too big, it simply won't get used.

Once you go glass and silicone you don't go back!
04/14/2011
Length and width, definetely.
04/14/2011
I look at shape, girth, then color and start reading reviews.

Size!

I think I chose one too many... lol But I'm REALLY picky with my toy selection. Size and material are tied as the number on things I look at when buying a toy. I can't handle larger dildos and prefer not to put low-grade materials inside my body. Silicone dildos are the only ones I will use.

Specially shape and size.

I look for a lot of things when shopping for toys. My main, most important things are material safety and rating. If EVERYONE hated it, chances are, I'll hate it too.
Most of my collection of toys for MYSELF consists of glass. So all my dildos, butt plugs, and one vibrator, is made of pyrex glass. I'm a big fan of Icicles. My couples toys for me and my fiance range from different safety levels. We rarely get under the #6 for safety, unless it's cock rings. Very hard to find safe jelly-like cock rings.
The other things I usually look for are circumference. I love chubby toys. However, if it has nice bulbs or bumps... or just something I like a lot, I'll get it. There can't always be a certain criteria.
As far as color, a lot of my toys are purple. And by alot, I mean... almost all of them.
