When looking at a dildo, what are your main concerns? I'm concerned about them all.
What matters most to you?

Well, the thing that's most important for me is girth because it's going to be what determines whether or not I can even use it. Too big and it'll be a complete waste. I usually don't have an issue with them being too small though.

The thing that catches my eye is texture/shape, though. If it has a shape and texture that looks like it would suit me nicely (g-spot, etc.) then that'll draw me to it. For instance, ribbed or swirled texture works great for me, a stacked-ball like texture usually gives me amazing orgasms and a ball-shape or bulbous-shaped end usually gives me nice g-spot O's. However, I have to be careful about it being too curved too because certain dildos likee the Pure Wand only cause me pain.
Since most dildos are made of glass or silicone, I usually don't have a very hard time there. I would always opt for better materials, but I still use some less safer ones like TPR because the toys I have in that material are awesome.
Those are my main concerns when it comes to buying.

It goes in this order for me:
1. Material (if it's bad I won't even consider it)
2. Girth (no smaller than 1.5 inch diameter)
3. Length (I like it to be about 8 inches)

Material and girth.

All of the factors that you listed are important. Additionally, texture, configuration and don't forget, color. Each of those factors could be a deal breaker.

Material and girth is what I look for.

Me, too! I have to be able to use it comfortably with no reactions to the material & I have to be able to accommodate it! Shape affects how well I can accommodate it, as well, because I can fit a wider girth if it tapers to the fullness, but not if it starts really thick, such as a very bulbous head. The length doesn't bother me, I take whatever's comfortable, so the extra just isn't used & so far, I haven't ever had a toy that's too short. I like lots of different colors, but I have noticed my vagina doesn't see color, so it's not a deal breaker for me. I always thought I preferred softer, squishier materials, but then I tried glass & found it to be the easiest material for me, I have absolutely no reaction to it & other than having to be careful not to bruise myself, I think it's perfect. I am still interested in trying a VixSkin to see how I like it, or some other softer materials. So, for now, girth & materials are the 2 determining factors for my trying a toy.

Length and girth, but if it's made out of a potentially unsafe material, I wouldn't consider it.

material is important

Material and girth are big factors for me when choosing a sex toy.

Material and girth. I prefer hard toys so bend and squish aren't always as important.

Material, girth, and give are most important to me. I prefer safe materials and won't but anything that isn't.
Girth is super important. I like toys that are bigger than average, but only when there is a decent amount of give to them. Really firm toys can feel larger so I prefer to stay at or under 5 inches in girth for glass, metal, or really firm silicone.

All of the above! We like variety so we look at all aspects of construction and size. Then we choose toys that fill some void in our toy box!

all of the above

Material, length and girth.

Material always!

First would be material although I consider all the above when making a purchase.

Material for sure, then length and flexibility or give.
05/02/2013
It's all important but girth and material are the make or break factors
05/02/2013
If it's too girthy or made of an unsafe material, I have zero chance of enjoying it, so those are the most important to me.
05/08/2013
The material is the first thing I look at, then the girth and length.

Mainly the material. I refuse to buy a dildo that has a safety meter rating of 5 and under.
