Would you write two reviews for the same product but in different scents?

Contributor: Ryuson Ryuson
I'm just finishing up two reviews for two of the Venus body products, one that I'm thrilled with and one that I'm on the fence about. Because I want to see if there is a difference between the spray scent and the lotion scent in a different overall smell I was considering doing a buyout on the Cucumber melon products...

But if I do this I'd have two reviews for the same product, but in different scents! Would you do this if you were me? Or would you buy them full price and maybe mention it in the follow up review?

Thank you so much for your help!

There is nothing wrong with discussing each scent differently in separate reviews.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the system allows you to review the same product in different scents. I think the system would view that similar to the same toy but in different colors, or the same piece of clothing in different sizes. As far as the system is concerned, they're the same product.

Personally, I would discuss both scents in the same review since all other aspects of the review will be the same.

I don't think you can actually do this. Once you review the product it shows as "reviewed" and won't let you grab it again. I just tried to grab a product I had already reviewed in a different scent and it wouldn't let me.

Wow, thanks! I didn't know that, I figured that you could since they had some differences. Since it was an assignment and I'm not planning on placing another order for a few weeks I may just discuss it in the follow up review.

I recently was thinking this same thing. I had received multiple scents in the same product and thought the same thing. However, I remembered 1 review per item regardless of scent It would be a very similar review any ways. The only way I can see it working is if you did the review on the regular size, and then a petite size of the product if both are available.

I'm not sure if the actual system will let you do it though. I think it should be allowed different scent are in fact different products.

You cannot do this, however if you would hold your review off until you get the other products, you could add the other fragrance to it and have an amazing review! I am going to do this with a couple items.

I don't think separate reviews are necessary since the product is the same except for the scent. However, I wish reviews could be sorted by scent so it's easier to find reviews in the scents I'm interested in.

No, thats kind of silly. I would just add it in the review, or in the follow up review.

No, leave it to the follow up review -- unless you're doing different types of products in different scents. Say Raspberry in Body Spray, and Strawberry in lotion (not that these are actual scents in the line)

I would put it all in the same review, if you have multiple scents. I have done that for a lingerie review when I had more than one size.

I voted to leave it, just because there was a conversation about this before (I think Peggi was the thread creator for it) and the majority of people said she shouldn't (from what I remember anyway). So I'll go with the masses from the other thread.

As far as I know, you can't write 2 reviews on the same product, even if it's 2 different scents/flavors. I bought the Original flavor Petite Oil of Love (blegh), and received the Strawberry flavor for Christmas (yum). I'd already written a review on the Original flavor, and was unable to write a review on the strawberry even though they were vastly different.

I'd put it in the follow up, or mention it in the review, although I don't like mentioning two completely different scents or colors in a review. I want to talk about the toy I received, not variations of it. I'd just stick it in the follow up review

I do it in one review. If I purchased more later, I would include that in the follow up.

When you have the same product, just in another scent, as Kindred said, you only get to pick one of the scents to review. When you complete that review, you still cannot do another review on a different scent.

I had this happen with the Lelo Flickering Touch Massage Oil as I had all three. In that review I listed all the scents and described each one with notes and Seasonal flavours.

For me personally; I feel that if you have more than one scent of the exact same product, in the body of the review, compare it. It will add to the review especially if you are describing the scents with it's notes. This in my opinion is what a reader of a review is looking for when it comes to scent based products, how do they compare with the other scent? Is one more longer lasting? Is one more powerful?

I don't think you can do that....can you? I know once I tried to "grab" another coochy shave cream and it wouldn't let me review another one. It really sucks because I did one of my first few reviews on some and now that I a more comfortable and know what is expected I feel I could give a better review.
