Pictures in reviews and filters

Contributor: K101 K101
I've never seen any photos that were done that way and I wouldn't complain about any added detail, but if the picture isn't clear enough to even slightly see what's going on with the product then I don't see it serving it's purpose. I wouldn't complain about it or knock off on rating, but I would prefer it being somewhat clear. I just learned how to upload pics (thank you Sam!) Lol. And have finally gotten to add them to my reviews, especially lingerie since some of it looks totally different than the product photo, so I found it useful to upload it. I wouldn't expect the pics to be perfect, but I wouldn't get much from them if they weren't clear enough to see the product.

I don't understand why people get upset with those who post pics. I cuoldn't tell you how many times the reviewer's actual pics have helped me! Like the lingerie I recently reviewed, it was very different from the piece in the product photo so I see adding my own pics as pretty darn important. If I got upset all because someone took their time trying to make an extra effort to help out by adding photos then I just wouldn't read the review. I wouldn't complain about it though. I know you weren't doing that, but I see above comments that seem very unhappy with it.

I really think adding photos come in handy.

In general I find pictures very helpful, but I don't really like too much editing. I don't mind a border here and there, but I find a lot of fancy visual effects distracting - what I really want to see are details about the toy that might not be visible on the product page.

I don't mind some things, but severely altering the color of the photo could be bad.

I like them as clear as possible. A border or something is okay.

I don't mind some things, but if you're taking away the ability to see any detail, then I'd rather not see the picture

I would rather just see the product so I have a better image of it. Sometimes even the borders can distract from the product.

I just take a picture and don't do anything fancy. I don't have a great camera so I do crop it to make it closer up, but other than that that's all I do.

I do "label" things in my pictures, but I don't alter them apart from that.

Maybe I'm just not creative enough, but that seems like a lot of work. The point is to display the product in all it's glory and it's just way to complicated to do that work if it doesn't accurately display the product. It can be misleading. I haven't seen anything like that yet, but maybe I wouldn't notice if I did.

I haven't seen anyone do this. As long as I can see detail/size reference I am ok with photos.
What annoys me is when someone photographs something dark with a dark similar colored background where you can't see the shape of the object or there is nowhere near enough light to take a photo.

It doesn't need the pretty edges!

a lot of times pictures don't add anything to a review.

I just post my pictures as they are but I am careful about the background scenery. blurry pictures take away from the product tho.

Picture can be good. I prefer the original picture though. While a border will not bother me, I still find it unnecessary, that is not what the picture is for.

to me the most useful part of seeing the pictures is realizing discrepancies in the actual color of the item compared to product page pic

I will occasionally blur a brand name on a comparison product, or adjust contrast so that you can see the toy better in a picture if I didn't shoot it right (happens from time to time, when I'm too excited to think about shooting and just want to play)

That being said, I can't stand frilly filters that change colors or anything like that. I want to see the toy as it is!

I can understand editing a photo to take something identifying of the reviewer out of the background. Don't expect me to appreciate anything that obscures what you're actually trying to show me, though.
