Yeah yeah, I know the answer you're looking for. BUT I think I prefer the idea of the second option in the photo above. Haha

Commas are probably the single most incorrectly used punctuation item. The semicolon is a close second though.

Let's eat Grandma!
Let's eat, Grandma!

And sadly, so many people see no difference between those sentences.

I totally agree!

You'd think, with a site with so many anal toys, we'd see more correct use of the colon too...

...ok lame joke!

I didn't learn about this until I started high school in US.

It's a trick question. Both sentences are correct. The use to the serial comma is a grammar suggestion not a rule. Mostly it depends on the type of writing in question. There are even differences in it's usage between the various English dialects.

In the example you give you are correct, HOWEVER, if the items are equal in nature and do not denote numbers you are not required to separate the last listed item before the "and". The trick is to be consistent so that your reader knows that you are using the comma to replace the linking word.

Example: I like apples, peaches and bananas.

I don't think either of them has a very high truth value, lol.

actually both can be correct. Not using a comma between and at the last part of the sentence is correct in certain countries.

Would it be incorrect to write the second one:
