I try to be forgiving to new reviewers, because I'm a nice person. I don't think I've yet to vote less than "somewhat useful".
Are you more forgiving when it comes to reviews written by newbies?

As a newbie, I hope more experienced reviewers rate me honestly. In my first review, I skimped on some detail and got rated accordingly--and now I know that I need to include those details in future reviews. If everyone was "nice" and gave me EU ratings without criticism, I'd think, "Oh, cool, I didn't need those details after all!" When it comes right down to it, I need feedback to learn how to write within the conventions of the EF community.

Awesome attitude! Seriously! I felt this way when I first started writing reviews, and still do! I enjoy when someone points out an error I make, or suggests what I can add in, or other information I could cover. Because it helps in writing a more thorough and helpful review. At the end of the day I want someone to be able to read one of my reviews, understand what I am saying and make an informed decision with the help of my review. It's a good feeling to know I can help others.

It really depends on review quality, but newbie or not, I vote the same.

Depends on what it is

If the review is especially bad I give the editor a bad rating! Shame on them!
I think it's better to leave new reviewers pointers rather than giving them a "forgiving" rating, though. I appreciated that on my first reviews.

I usually vote in the same way, but try and leave specific feedback if I think something is missing or particularly good.

I vote the same as I would for anyone, I don't discriminate. Some noobs make very good reviews and some experienced users make terrible ones. It shouldn't matter.
