Do you use "Vrooms" and "Bees" for non-vibrating toys?

Contributor: Nazaress Nazaress
I've seen a few reviews for toys that did not vibrate that had a Vroom and/or Bee rating. I always thought these ratings were only for toys that vibrate, especially the Vrooms. Do you use Vrooms and Bees for non-vibrating toys?

I have not yet, at least. I'm wondering if I should?

It says that's only for toys with motors. I think people that do that either don't understand what it's for or are new. I've seen them on dildos before and I always wonder what dildo would manage to earn anything above a 1 bee. I do use them if a dildo comes with a bullet and rate the bullet. Just a dildo, lube, BDSM item, etc? No.

Agreed! I understand that some toys make "noise" because of the lube you're using or whatever but that's not the same as Bees. It does say it's for motorized toys only. That's why I've never used them for anything else. But I was seeing so many with Bee ratings that I started to wonder if maybe I was wrong. I guess I wasn't the one wrong in the situation! Lol.

I don't, it just doesn't make any sense to do that!

Especially the Vrooms. I just don't get that!

Only for toys with motors. Seems silly to do it for other things.

I think people just get confused. It would be good if on things that would be N/A anyhow if it just didn't show the options.

That's a great idea! That would definitely help with the confusion.

I used bees for a noisy paddle I reviewed. And I could understand using it for strokers that are particularly loud when used. But vrooms makes no sense without a motor.

I used to use bees and vrooms for quite some time on every review I did (even lingerie), but that is because I thought that it was required... so a I used to put 1 vroom and 1 bee for non-vibrating toys/items. It wasn't that long ago that I seen the N/A button beside the choices lol... Perhaps my eyes aren't that good, but I had no idea of that button before... lol! I feel like a nerd for admitting that.

Ha ha! It's alright! We all make mistakes! At least you've learned.

I always use "N/A" for non-vibe toys unless it's a warming or cooling lube to indicate relative strength of the chemicals.

Couldn't that information simply be listed the review (as I'm sure you already do)? It could be confusing to readers because Vrooms and Bees really ARE only for motorized toys. Warming/cooling lube isn't a toy to begin with so this could be doubly confusing. Just a suggestion.

I usually only give vroom and bee ratings to vibrating toys. The only instance where I used them for a toy that wasn't a vibrator was the Rhapsodia, which has balls that move around inside the toy. This creates a vibrating feel when you move, and also makes a slight noise, so I felt the ratings where justified in that case.

I only use them if the toy vibrates.

I only use Vrooms for motorized things or things that vibrate (like from internal weights.) With Bees, I can only see using them with non-vibrating things if it makes a lot of noise (like maybe a slapper, since they are designed to be loud.) I personally don't, however. I'd just note that in the review.

I haven't, but I've seen lingerie reviews that use the vroom. Makes me wonder if they should add something in for that!

I saw a lingerie item with 4 vrooms recently. Must be some kind of special G-string.

This is what my Mentor told me, especially with erotica books. But I wonder, if you got a fantastic erotica book, can't we somehow inform the public how Vrooms the stories were! Sometimes it does get your motor running! Just kidding! I guess we can only say it with words like HOT, STEAMY, or AMAZING!

I never have, but I can see possibly assigning bees to something non-vibrating if it's unusually noisy (although like others said, you could just point that out in your review). I was tempted to jokingly give the leather leggings I just reviewed a bee, since the crotch makes hilarious slapping noises when you walk!

I always pick the n/a. I know it's something little, but it always irks me when people give things a vroom or a bee when it doesn't make and sound... How can a bath gel have a bee?? What are you doing with this bath gel that makes it not one, but 2 bees?

I've given a bee to something that was loud in use but didn't have a motor, but other than that I don't use them unless I'm reviewing something that has a motor.

I would give bees to something like the tenga flip because in use it can be quite loud even though it doesn't have a motor to it. But for lingerie absolutely not.
