It seems that most people prefer to write their reviews in extended format but what do people prefer reading? I'm curious because I prefer both reading and writing reviews in the standard free form format. But just put aside what format you prefer to write in, what do you prefer to read? If this poll swings overwhelmingly one way or the other, I might consider changing the format I publish my reviews in.
Do you prefer reading standard or extended review formats?

I like the video reviews too.

I prefer extended format most of the time because I find large blocks of text very difficult to process/read.
I've started experimenting with the standard format, myself, though so I'll be intrigued to see if my opinion changes about this or if I'll always be die hard extended format.

If it is something that I am interested in, then I really don't care what format the review is in. I just like reading how it worked and info about the toy. Some people write better extended format reviews, while others are really good at story-like reviews that work better in the standard format.

I like a mix of both. Reading only one type for review after review gets a bit tedious.
02/18/2011
I'm more interested in how well written the review to help me make up my mind on whether or not I would like the product. So that matters more to me than the format.
02/18/2011
I prefer extended reviews when I'm actually shopping since it's easier to quickly get the information I'm looking for. Standard format tends to be more entertaining though.
02/18/2011
It depends on the product, the style of writing, and the information. I like both if they're done well and easy/fun to read.
02/19/2011
I prefer Extended Format, because I am wordy and the Standard usually causes me to run out of room before I have said everything I want to. There are products for which you need to use the Standard format, but given a choice I prefer Extended Format.

I like Extended for products I'm deciding on whether to buy or not. It means I can skip around and skip and/or skim sections with which I am already familiar with and/or aren't very pertinent to my decision, like care and maintenance and use.

But for just reading a review? I like standard.
It really depends on the author, too.
02/19/2011
I like the extended format simply because the standard format just makes the text look like one huge block of "I don't want to read that".
02/19/2011
As long as I get good intel about the product I am looking to buy, I don't care. I think I have a harder time with people who just want to tell you about tearing the box open and getting it on or who don't really tell you anything at all.
02/19/2011
It depends on the persons writing style. Sometimes I think the review would be better if the person had written it in extended or sometimes I think it would have been best written in standard. Same goes for myself, sometimes I feel I could write a review in one format better than the other.

I said I don't care, I see benefits in both.
The extended template makes it a bit easier to navigate when you're trying to find specific info about a product.
The standard format allows for more creative, flowing style.

I really prefer extended version.
02/28/2011
Extended is way better for me because it makes sure I write down everything that is needed.
03/11/2011
I don't really mind which way the review is set up reading wise, so long as all the info is there I do like the videos and any photos a reviewer can include, too, though -- hope that helps.
03/18/2011
I like extended best but I don't really have a strong preference, so long as they include enough information.
03/18/2011
See I don't mind either, reading or writing. But I THINK that if most people see that it is 'standard' and its not extremely long that they skim through it and will under rate you. Maybe they don't and it is a fear of mine. lol. But I like using the extended format when I do my reviews. I'm sad that you can't use an extended for all reviews.
03/18/2011
I prefer to write my reviews in the original version but I make my own titles to set it all out.
When reading, I prefer the extended version, unless the reviewer has made headings in the original one.

I don't really care as long as they are good reviews that get across all the main points.
03/26/2011
I don't care very much except when I'm comparing products because in the standard format I know where to look for the same information on both products.

i do video reviews too

I prefer the extended format because everything is nice and organized. Plus for those times when you're just quickly skimming reviews because you're looking for specific information it makes it much easier to find.
05/27/2011
I think extended format reviews are way easier to read.
05/27/2011
Extended usually helps me to know exactly what I need to and find what I'm looking for. I prefer writing in the extended format, also, because it helps me to explain and think about more details of the toy.
06/05/2011
Extended because standard only seems to allow the info that's already listed. With an extended review I'm actually able to learn the real opinion and experience and details that I find extremely important.
06/19/2011
I've been really curious about this lately as well, and it's interesting to read everyone's answers. I've gotten so used to using the standard review format but lately I've been wondering if I'd be better off using the extended format. It does seem that it would be helpful in some ways, I wouldn't have to worry about leaving any info out since it basically reminds you what to cover. Plus I sometimes find my reviews getting rather lengthy. Perhaps I'll have to switch over, or at least give the extended format a try.

I don't really care, just as long as they are decently well written and carefully thought out.
