I agree with you here.

I see "marriage" as a contract, and to me it means less than making a promise and sticking to it.

As for "marriage"... my only is I've no idea.

Legal marriage grants a lot of important rights, such as hospital visitation, citizenship, healthcare, parenting, and medical decision rights, so that's what I see it as. I *have* a piece of paper that is not legally binding, that just says we committed to each other. We got it made by a professional calligraphy artist. You can get a piece of paper anywhere. Marriage is a lot more than that, at least in the United States.

I am married. Though it wasn't the plan. (I use to think marriage was just paper.) However, you have to think about what you need to do. I can't be on hubbies health insurance without being married. I have no say in his medical treatments and vice versa. As Velvet Dragon has said marriage is far MORE than paper.

Married - 2x. The first was obviously a mistake - but I took the time to get it right the second time. It didn't happen until I was 35 - about 10 years between divorce and remarrying. I couldn't be happier - it was the right move for me.

I honestly don't know if I will ever get married, I would like to someday. However, I really enjoy being single right now, I'm young and it's nice to not be tied down.
