I would prefer to be in a healthy relationship than to be single, but I'd far rather be single than be in any relationship that doesn't make me blissfully happy.

I am happily in a relationship and content with it staying that way.

This is exactly what I was going to say. I am very happy with the relationship I am in right now, but I have had quite a few relationships where I was absolutely thrilled to end them and be single again.

I agree 100%. I hope I have always learned from the past. I must have though, as my present relationship is almost 3 years.

I agree with the others. I'd rather be single than in a bad relationship, but I'd rather be in a good relationship than single.

Right now, I'm not in a relationship. And I'm slightly getting better at being alright with that. I'm trying to focus on myself and my own wants. Gaining experience outside of a relationship to be better in one, I suppose. It's a bit sad, since I'd like to share this with another person, but what can you do? Can't have everything you want.

Happily married for 20+. Honestly I didn't expect this - my parents fought incessantly - I thought that was normal. I'm so glad to have escaped that fate.

I'd like to have a relationship down the road, but right now I am just not ready.

I tried to be with someone who I really care about, but the whole thing is just too overwhelming for me a.t.m.

I am still figuring out my life and who I want to be when I grow up, so there is no point in complicating things further with a time/energy consuming relationship.

I still get lonely and like companionship, but that is what EF is for

I'm an insecure person, so sometimes being in a relationship is more stressful than being single for me. BUT I happen to be fairly content in my current relationship with a wonderful unicorn, even when I'm having bad days. <3

Happily in a relationship that's actually healthy and fully intent on keeping it that way.

I hear my friends talk about their relationships, and I think, "Wow, I could never do that." Except for the decreased opportunity for sex, there isn't any down side to singledom for me.

It depends. Some days I think being in a relationship would be nice - having someone to confide in and be able to depend on, as well as a whole lot of other good things.

But then other times, I'm happy being single cause my time is my own. If I want to be lazy or a snob, I can. The only person my weight is affecting is me. I don't have to worry about a partner cheating on me.

You know, to me I think it's important to be happy and content wherever you are at that particular moment. I've been single for years at a time - happily and contentedly. I am now currently in a very fulfilling relationship - and I'm happy and content. I think the key is not so much your situation, but how you feel about your situation.

I agree with those who say being single is MUCH better than being with the wrong person.

Being a very independent male, I have always been able to function without any problems while single. When in a relationship, I tend to take on the majority of the task of the relationship without any hesitation. At times it can be overwhelming and ponder why am I putting myself through all this. Is it really worth it.

It definitely depends on the situation. Out of a relationship, I need to be single to get my head space back in order. If I've been single for a while, I might be ready for a relationship. Is the guy nice or too busy for me? There's so much to consider.

I always prefer to be in a relationship as long as everything is healthy. Luckily that's right where I am now, and I don't plan on that changing anytime soon. I can function just fine by myself, but it's always nice to have someone special to spend your time with.

Both have its good and bad sides. I tend to lean toward being single. I sometimes feel restrained in a relationship, and i don`t like that.

I like to stay single in between relationships... take some time to reflect, learn about myself, get my own stuff together before bringing someone in. Both have their pros and cons (being single and in a relationship).. I can be happy and single though too
