I think anything past 1 year is long term.
There are a lot of posts now in LONG TERM RELATIONSHIPS...but how long IS "long term"?

Anything that's 2+ years is long term to me.

I consider about a year of dating long term. I hate couples that celebrate a 6 month or less anniversary

It really depends on the person. I consider a year or longer "long term." But my husband and I have been together for 3 years.

I'd call long term about a year, my current relationship is 4 years

I kind of like the 3-6 range to start calling a relationship "long term". It's also sort of a state of mind as well, knowing that this is your forever relationship, and that knowledge is based on time spent together. I am at 8 years and honestly can't imagine anyone else.

Long term for my husband and I had been established (by both of us) once we had both reached the point where we were each others longest running relationship. For us that was about a year and a half in. I was 20 when we started dating. He had just turned 23. We have now been together since 1999. We married in 2001. Any way you slice it, I'm fairly sure we are well into the long term at this point.

I'd say around two years of commited relationship is long term

Long term is 3+ years, I think.
Been in a relationship for a year and a half. Halfway there?

I call "long term" whenever you know you are committed to each other and not just "in love." Some people I know feel that after half a year. They get married, have happy marriages. It's not any less long-term because they figured it out in a shorter amount of time.

id say after about 2 years or so

I'd say 2+ years is long term.

Somewhere in the range of 1-3 or 3-6 years.

We've been together for two years. When you compare it to relationships that are 5+ years, it's really not that long, but considering that we now live together and are starting to seriously talk about a life together, it's long-term to us.
A year isn't long-term. A year is the discovery phase, I think. You've been together for longer than a few months and you might want to be together longer, it's really uncertain.
I think a SOLID long-term relationship is more like 5 years and up, and after 10 years, I think it's pretty set in stone, but of course that changes, too with time.

I say 2-3+ years. My boyfriend and I have been together 5 years and I'd say that is long term. Funny how people say 10+ years is but at that point you might as well be married. My boyfriend and I have known each other for a majority of each of our lives.

I'd say over two years or if they are engaged/living together.

I start thinking a relationship hits the long term mark at a year...this may seem silly to some but how I see it is if you're with someone for a year then that's a long time to just be dating someone. I considered my relationship long term and now we're at the two year mark and not planning on breaking up any time soon.
That's really cool that so many people here have been with their SO for so many years! It's really nice to see that ^-^

Long term generally means longer than my previous relationships to me. Which would be 2 years, but now I'm at 4 years. I think it really depends on the person though.

I'd say more than a year is long-term.

And this year will be # 27

I think it depends on your age and location a little. For example, I am in college at a school where partying and casual sex is rampant. Being in a relationship for more than 6 months is considered a long term relationship.

I think many people will define "long-term" differently. In my humble opinion, it's not the number of years you HAVE lasted... It's your intention to last a lifetime that makes your relationship "long-term." My boyfriend and I have been together for less than two years (friends for four before that), but we consider ourselves "long-term" even when many others will not. This is because we don't plan on breaking up, ever, or even that awkward high-school concept of "taking a break." (Though for the record, we are 23 and 28, lol!) We have plans for the future like children, and we have even combined our life's dreams to include one another and their dreams. I think that certainly qualifies us to call our relationship, a long-term relationship.

We've been together "long term". Married over 34 years and together 6 years before that. I think that would fit "long term".

I say 3+ years is long term.
