We have been together more than 20 years. I was a teenager when we first got together, we weathered an Open Relationship, having children and a number of things I prefer not to talk about.
I think it is certainly possible. One has to be realistic about what to expect from love. An other person doesn't "make you happy." They are part of your life, contribute to your life, you contribute to theirs, but happiness is YOUR responsibility.
