In the begining of a relationship I think flowers are sweet and romantic. I love them when they are "just because I love you" or "just thinking about you". But when a man sends flowers because he screwed up. In my book floweres are no substitute for an apology. Then they usually just make me madder!
Do You Like Getting Flowers?

I love flowers. I buy them for myself sometimes. I bf used to buy some for me every now and then (probably a lot more often than most guys), but he was never able to get my favorite color roses, which are orange ones. I got lots of pink ones, purpley one, yellow ones... he knew I hated red so I never got those. And he always said he *tried* to find orange ones. And he lives in a small mountain town so I didn't really blame him, though I can usually find them pretty easily where I live...
Beyond roses, I tend to like really unique type flowers you'd have to go out of your way to order from a florist and would have to risk not being okay, and I dont approve of letting a florist send flowers you don't get to see the finished product of, so I always forbid him. Now he doesn't at all because he doesn't have the income he used to.
however, I still love flowers. I love the color, I love how they look in my rooms, even when the petals fall, and I love how they smell. That's just me.

I put both lol. I love getting flowers because I don't really get them often. In fact I'd probably question why I was getting them if Hubby just randomly brought some home. I'd also be mad if I got them because there are so many other important things for our money now adays. Money's too tight to waste.

it will always brighten my day

I appreciate the romantic intention, but it's just not the gift for me. My thought process usually goes something like this:
1. Oh cool you spent $25+ on something you know will not last.
2. My nose tickles and my eyes itch.
3. So there's going to be dead leaves and petal droppings on my coffee table for several days?
4. I hope the dog won't eat them.
5. Wait, tell me how killing an innocent plant creatively express how much you love me.
6. How long until I can just throw this away?
7. Well I guess I at least have an ugly cheap vase to keep under the sink and collect dust with . . . hooray?
So I was wondering am I the only one out there who feels this way? How do you react to being given cut flowers?

I'm weird I was once given cloth flowers as a gift and i kind of like that. It was used for all kinds of differ things over the years even after the giver and I broke up. so it was a twist and useful idea.

Don't really hate them, but would always rather get a live plant that I can keep pretty forever!

I love getting flowers! They smell so good and the gesture is so nice.
07/24/2012
I would love it, but at same time think there was a better use for the money.
07/24/2012
I don't mind getting flowers occasionally but I'd rather not waste the money on something that won't last.

I LOOOVE getting real flowers, completely brightens my day && mood anytime I look at them. I do have allergies to two-three different kinds of flowers; when someone forgets or doesn't know it is often an awkward conversation && is saddening.
More recently, I have loved receiving plants instead of flowers, gives me something to maintain, water && grow; paradise/tropical plants are all the better since most of them have little flowers on them.

I've never actually had flowers sent to me. I would like it though. Every time my boyfriend goes to buy me flowers, I talk him out of it and talk him into buying me something else. (Like once I talked him into buying me a hookah instead!)
07/25/2012
I like to get flowers. Not all the time though because I'm horrible at taking care of them, but once in a while is a nice surprise

1. You wasted $25. I'd have appreciated the cash in the vase better
2. So there's going to be dead leaves and petal droppings on my coffee table for several days?

I understand where you're coming from but I like getting flowers occasionally. My partner used to get me blue and purple orchids for no reason and I love them. I didnt have a vase so I would use an empty liquor bottle (Kahlua bottles look nice) and I keep them on top of my fridge so the cat cant eat them. But they last forever! Well for weeks at least...
07/29/2012
Yes, I love to!
07/29/2012
I just don't like getting flowers. I agree with you, they die quickly and they're expensive. I wish that money could all be saved up over a lifetime so I can buy something really nice instead.

I don't hate getting flowers. If my boyfriend gets me flowers, I'll be really happy that he's thinking about me, and it's really sweet. Buuut I'd rather have something that'll last longer than a week. Like a new toy! Preferably a Lelo ;P
