I couldn't stand the show at first. Thought it was mega-cheesy but after 3-4 episodes it gets MUCH better. I was about to stop watching when it made a definite turn for the better. If you can convince yourself to suffer through the first few hours, renting or buying the dvd set and catching up would probably be worth it!

I'll one-up you and suggest the books.

It's definitely one of those cases where the show takes elements from the book its based on and runs with it. Both book and show are good, just remember that the show is only loosely based on the books.

I was the exact same way! We just rented and watched the first two seasons within the last month. At first it just wasn't doin it for me. I couldn't take the cheesy accents (even though it's in Bon Temps) and Sookie just seemed whiney. And the sex was cheesy. But as I kept watching, I got hooked and found myself getting pissed off when they left you hanging at the end of an episode/disc/season.

I'm way devastated cause I don't get HBO so I have no way to watch the third season until it's over and has come out on DVD :[

Yeah, Sookie is a bit of a ditz with her own moments (more in the book).

I also love the fact that Rogue is getting nakie too...wish there would've been more Tara nakieness.

I thought the sex scene was hilarious. The vampire kept shaking his head and sticking his tongue out at the camera.

TrueBlood is another brand name for synth blood. I found out at the end of "Living Dead in Dallas"

The 3rd book "Club Dead" has TrueBlood becoming the front runner in the brand wars of synth blood.

I just finished watching Season 2. Love, LoVE, LOVE that series! It totally "eclipses" the Twilight! I started reading the books and stopped at Dead in Dallas, but I need to continue them.

I just started "Dead to the World" (5th book).

Keep going with the reading PassionQT! The changes the tv show has done make it just different enough were the books and show are getting less and less alike.

There's several characters that have been made just for the show.

It's a June-August-ish series, I think, so sometime in there. Just a few more months!

I think that would not be fun at all to go through, I wouldn't want to.

Thats tough. It would suck but I kinda like sex a lot so I'd probably grit my teeth and get over it.

I LOVE TRUE BLOOD. Cannot WAIT for season 4. I love the books even more I've still yet have to read book #10. My two favorite characters are Pam (which they nailed her to a "T") and Claudine which they totally butchered. I would LOVE to see how Allen Ball handles a were-tiger, goblins, demons, you know the usual odd suspects in the books.
