True Blood

Contributor: adirondacker adirondacker
Recently I have been watching True Blood. For those who don't know it is an HBO show about vampires, sex, other supernatural stuff, sex, drugs, sex, and a small town. Part of the shows vampire folklore is that a vampire will forever look as they did at the moment they went from human to vampire. If for some reason a vampire loses a leg the next night the leg is healed back. One of the characters Jessica Hamby was just turned into a vampire at the age of 17, and she was a virgin. As the show has progressed she lost her virginity, but the next night her Hymen had regrown!

Would you (ladies) still be into having vaginal sex if you had to "pop your cherry" every night?
Also any other True Blood fans!?

Probably not, especially given my husband's girth.

I've never heard of the show but it sounds interesting

Most likely

I love True Blood! Haven't watched this season yet, except the first episode - but it's tivo'd

Yeah, probably. I kind of wish I could do it again, at least once. It hurt, but it was nice in a way. I guess I'm weird.

I'd skip the vaginal sex and go with anal, oral and fingering (as fingering didn't hurt me when I had my hymen).

Also, love, love, love True Blood!

Probably. Losing it didn't hurt

I adore True Blood but I prefer the books. I would do the vaginal thing every now and again but would try to stick oral and fingering. Hmm...I guess anal would hurt everytime as well or could she get a dilator kit?

Ooof, I probably wouldn't do it much. My hymen wasn't too happy when I switched from fingers to a 1.5" diameter dildo (in retrospect, I should have gone with something smaller initially). There was some blood the first three or four times I got off with it (over several days, I think). So...I'd stick to fingering, smaller dildos and vibes, and anal play. I'd miss the penis, but at least I wouldn't miss the pain.

I also love (LOVE LOVE LOVE) True Blood. <3

I'm lukewarm about True Blood's leading lady and her current beau. (I mean, if Bill got the boot and Erik got more screentime... yummy :3) But Jessica is one of my absolute favorite characters because she is just so adorable! I loved the episode where she found out that her hymen had grown back. In her position, I'd probably just grit my teeth and get used to the initial pain. I'd definitely try to get around it though. What if I wore a strap-on vibe (the kind with an insertable part on the wearer's end) 24/7? Would that prevent the hymen from regrowing?

Rocky La Femme and Miss Cinnamon, I don't know the mythology behide vampires enough to say if a dilator or anything else for that matter could keep things from growing back or tightening up? It makes for an interesting idea at the least. I am really curious how that is going to be tackle later in the show.

As far as Bill and Eric are concerned Bill seems more like Sookie's type but with the whole drinking Eric's blood situation! I think it will be more fun to see what her and Eric are like together. Though my favorite male character on the show is Jason.

In a recent episode there is a scene where Jason and Sookie are talking and Jason says how people only like him for his athletics, good looks and sexability! I think it is pretty true that guy does have some crazy ass sex on that show.

I don't think anal would be as much of a problem, actually. It seems that this particular vampire trait is really just the power of regeneration/healing. Jessica's hymen was broken, and then it healed itself. There isn't a similar barrier when it comes to anal sex, it just aches a bit the first few times because the muscle isn't toned and accustomed to stretching that much. Just a speculation. Not an expert on human or vampire anatomy

Anyone catch the season 3 opener?

Who's read the books?

LOVE True Blood but wasn't into the books.

As far as the hymen? Nope. Wouldn't do it. Once was enough and was horrifically painful.

I've read the books, I'm currently reading the 10th one right now.

And yep, couldn't wait for season 3 to start!

As far as the hymen, mine didn't hurt so much the first time so I'd be cool with doing it again every time.

I haven't read the books yet, but the season opener is DVR'd, and the rest is scheduled, so I can sit down and watch them all.

I thought this show was pretty cheesy, BUT I got sucked into at the same time! So now I like it!

And there's a parody of this out too: Tru: A XXX Parody. The casting isn't too bad, and it's sort of a mishmash of the first 2 seasons.

I'm a True Blood fan, and Bill Compton & Sookie fan. They're both beautiful together. But I have to say that Eric is getting more appealing since he cut off the long hair and got more airtime. Pam is smoking hot and I love her sarcasm. And Lafayette is gorgeous. It's a fairly attractive cast.

I thought the twist of Jessica regrowing her hymen was good, and a little heartbreaking! I think I'd avoid sex more and focus on my play!

ACK no I would NOT like to have the thing grow back! I lost my hymen when I was a small child due to an accident and my first sexual experience was much better for not having had the pain I was warned about...repeatedly.

I'm reading the books now (just finished the first one last night).

The biggest difference I've seen so far is Jessica. She was created JUST for the show. The main reason for this is that the books are first person, Sookie. To keep it entertaining, they had to fill in the gaps of the other characters.

FYI: HBO picked up True Blood for a 4th season

FYI 2: The synthetic blood, in the books, isn't called "True Blood"

In the books I've mainly seen it called TrueBlood. There are some other brands they mention but the popular one is TrueBlood.

When someone explained to me that the show was about vampires and a blood substitute that was available like soda I thought it had the potential to be a neat show. Then I saw the first episode and the first sex scene, with the weird speedy sex, and thought it was cheesy as hell. I just can't deal with super cheesy. :p

What did they call it in the first few books? I can't remember that far back and I gave my old books away.
