I would like to say that there should undeniably for an exception in cases of abuse, but otherwise yes, everyone has a right to have kids.

Right, unusual situations and convictions for child abuse and/or sexual abuse of a child aside.

i'm somewhere between libertarian and true anarchism, and i think it's none of the governments business who we marry. if it's really a religious thing, keep it religious. don't give married couples more rights. keep the ceremonies separate. to base laws on prejudice religious beliefs is unconstitutional to those who are of different views.

I think that while gay marriage is an important issue in modern America, to base your vote entirely on that one issue is ridiculous and narrow minded. Were I in the US, Republicans would have my vote.

Independent. When you limit yourself to a party you are getting recycled ideas and furthering the two sided political war. Democrats/repubs would not support someone for candidacy unless they held to their ideals. I like to see peoples own point of views and hope that its not influenced by the good ol boy constituency.

Recently, in Australia, the Labour party (the one in power at the moment) had a conscience vote - one that shows how the politicians feel on a matter, without it becoming the law - and the party voted to change its stance from anti gay marriage to pro gay marriage. That's a step in the right direction for it to becoming fully legal in AU.

Do all Libertarians agree with gay marriage, though? I imagine quite a few disagree with marriage as a state-controlled and supported institution (but not discriminating against gays specifically). Perhaps I'm splitting hairs.

newsflash, gay marriage is now part of the democratic party platform.

I'm not a libertarian, because I believe that building and maintaining a functional and just society takes more work than "eh, everybody just do your own thing." And I say that as a liberal. (Worker protection! financial regulation! Healthcare! I believe in these things, and Libertarians don't!)

I'm a fiscal conservative and wasn't aware that libertarians were LGBT friendly. Maybe ones in the midwest don't want to play it up. Also, Libertarians aren't exactly mainstream...

I'm gay, and a former Libertarian (of the Ayn Rand type). Now, I'm...evolving. My college classes are giving me a much deeper understanding of our society and the problems we have, and their causes. I'm leaning a lot more toward the "liberal" side of the fence these days.

On the overpopulation issue: From A.D. 1 to A.D. 1500, Earth's human population grew from 200 million to 500 million. In just the last 500 years, we have exploded to 7 BILLION. This is what's known as a positive feedback loop--more people means more people reproducing, and therefore even MORE people being produced. Also known as the "snowball effect", or exponential growth. We're showing no signs of stopping, and it is physically impossible for this growth to continue without a catastrophe of some kind occurring at some point. Wheeeee!

Perhaps the LGBT community agrees with other things in the Democratic party. You can't always align yourself with the party that believes everything you believe in. Take LGBT Republicans, for example. I have no idea how an LGBT person could be registered to a party that wants to limit their rights. But there are so many LGBT people registered as a Republican. Why is that? Because the majority of their beliefs line up with said party.
