yes
Are you registered to vote?
10/29/2012
I've always voted... but only on the things that I feel strongly about. I'll leave something blank if it doesn't have much to do with me personally.
10/29/2012
I don't think I've missed a chance to vote since I was 18! I'm now in my mid 50's.

I had planned on registering if a certain candidate had been on the ballot, but he wasn't.

I registered immediately--as soon as I could. I find it extremely important to educate yourself on the how politics affect your life and to vote for what you believe in.

I used to feel that way too...but then I realized how every single aspect of our lives is influenced or controlled in some way by political processes. We all need to stand up and take back control of OUR government!

I registered right after my 18th birthday and my husband and I made sure our older kids registered right after their 18th.
Politics controls what you can do, whom you can do it with, what you get paid, what kinds of jobs are available, what kinds of roads you drive on, what your taxes are... in basic everything in your life.
I honestly think its irresponsible to not stay at least somewhat updated on what's going on in politics. The rights you lose WILL be your own, if you aren't paying attention. And there are forces out there (political forces) who COUNT on young people NOT paying attention, so they can surreptitiously take away rights without being noticed.
You lose when you don't pay attention. We ALL lose when you don't pay attention.
It isn't that hard to do a little research to make sure your country stays free and the things YOU believe in stay or become legal.
You can't stand up for what you believe is right, if you don't know WHAT is going on and WHO is in charge and HOW to reach or stop them.
In our family, our kids are schooled in politics from the time they are toddlers. (I taught my next door neighbor, who was a baby at the time to yell 'BAMA!' during the last election. His parents thought it was hilarious, and his little vote was heard!)
You have to be aware to either make changes or to make sure things that are right are not taken from you. less

There are people who have a vested interest in encouraging you to continue believing that voting is a waste of time, and that researching the reality of an issue or candidate (so you know which way to vote) is boring.
Each one of you who forfeits your voice in our country's political process is saying, "It's a waste of my time to care whether my rights are trampled and my fellow Americans are screwed over."
