Don't as me why. I *think* i must have had some reoccurring dream of this when I was little that scared the crap out of me and now it is embedded in my brain for life.

I have a fear of giant walls of fish tanks. Like you know when you go to a fish only store and there are just aisles and aisles of tanks that go all along the place and right up to the ceiling. And there are the ugliest fish you have ever seen that look at you as though they want to eat you for lunch. Those. I have this vision of them jumping out of the tanks at me. I will slip on a slimy fish and his buddies will just out and bite me.

OMG! I fear I would fail that "intelligence" test.

People, fear of spiders is a rational fear. At least it is if you swell up like I do when you're bitten by them. My husband wants me to carry an epi pen for it, but I don't think my reaction is quite at that level. less

My biggest fears do not involve any of the 'normal' stuff.

Like a lot of parents my biggest fear is that something bad will happen to my wife or kids. It's mostly irrational because 98% of the time you're not in a position to do anything about it - but I still worry! less

OMG that is horrible Hun! You should have the right to cary a paintball gun on you at all times...a high powered one with scope! That way they would be marked so we could cat call them and generally make their lives hell.

I am terrified that my lovers will walk out the door and somehow die. I think I could handle being left for say another woman but to have to be brave and go on with my life without them in the world somewhere scares the bejezus out of me. I have warned them that I will make their afterlife HELL if they leave me behind...

My mother is terrified that when she dies someone will put a pillow over her face and she won't be able to breathe. Talk about odd fears, no? less

Hitting an animal with my car.

I live in the Northwest, and I do a lot of backroads travelling, and I'm SO incredibly afraid of hitting an animal, be it a squirrel or rabbit or dog or cow or whatever.

Not to mention, hitting a deer or elk would be just about "certain death" for myself and my passenger.

I am totally irrationally afraid of cockroaches. Not the little brown German roaches, but the big black cockroaches. Especially the ones that fly. I grew up in South Louisiana so these cockroaches were everywhere. They are perfectly harmless, so I have no idea why I am so scared of them. I do a fair amount of gardening and can handle snakes and bugs and actually think spiders are sort of cool.

But cockroaches... ::jumps up on chair and screams like a little girl:: less

I have rational fears: snakes, heights, dill-flavored foods. But here's a taste of the irrational ones:

1] Any form of bad weather: rain starts falling and I get achy and nervous. Thunderstorms freak me out because as soon as I hear thunder, I tense up in anticipation of being struck by lightning... even when I'm in the middle of a building! When I had a roommate, she would sit in the living room with me during a storm, knowing I was freaked out. Now that I'm alone, I've stood in my kitchen and cried through a brief rain storm (I live in the South: it rains EVERY afternoon!) because I could only imagine suddenly being flooded out, lightning burning my house down, a tornado, etc. And I label this as an irrational fear because as a kid, I'd sit on the front porch and watch the lightning. I'd run around in the rain. This insane fear of any non-sunny day only cropped up in the last few years (I'm 25 now).

2] My dark house: I never liked being home alone, and now I live alone. When I'm ready for bed, I turn the lights out in my house in a certain order so that I'm never in a dark room. When I finally get to my bedroom, I simply lean out the door, turn off the last hall light, and quickly shut the door. I won't even look into the darkness down the hall. And sometimes I'll be in bed and hear the slightest noise (my AC turning on, a neighbor's dog outside) and get totally wound up thinking that someone might get in the house. I have an alarm system, but I still freak. I blame this one on my life-long overactive imagination.

I cannot stand band-aids! Medical tape is fine, cotton & real bandages are ok, it's just band aids. I refuse to wear them (always have), it bugs me when other people wear them, and its the worst to see them laying around on the ground or stuck to anything!!!!

FYI: Crazy Glue works way better than any band-aid! less
