It's better than having no job. I agree with P'Gell. There are a lot worse working conditions to have to endure, than just smiling.

Been there and done that I only worked there for a month cause I ended up getting really sick and it was during the summer BARF any who it really wasn't that bad and I will have a memory that will stay with me forever! They do pin trading an the cast members wear lanyards and you can trade collectors pins with them. There was a little girl no older then 3 or 4 very shy an her dad and I were talking about the lanyards that were sold in the shop I worked in. He was trying to get his daughter interested and I walked up to him and started explaining to him how it worked he was trying so hard to get his daughter to listen, I leaned in an told him we will ignore her for the moment while I finish explaining it to you and hopefully someone comes to trade with me in the midst of it. Well someone did come an trade an then the little girl picked up a lanyard that had pins already on it she got excited an interested in it. Her dad bought the lanyard which had duplicate pins so you could get to trading right away!!! The little girl picked out a Tinkerbell pin just for me she told her dad to give it to me and ask for a pin I had. I squatted down on her level an told her that daddy couldn't ask that she had to. It was so sweet she pointed out the pin she wanted an said "will you trade with me please" I let her pick her pin and she gave me an adorable Tinkerbell pin an whispered to me you have to keep it forever. We weren't suppose to take pins off our lanyards, but I never put it on there cause it would have went right away I always kept extras I put it in my pocket an to this day I still have it hanging in my room on my lanyard! It is a wonderful place to work if you can handle the industry. I miss it but it really isn't worth the drive for me since I live about an hour away. If I lived closer and could do it again I would to be honest I didn't do the fun stuff for the adults I did it for the kids and kids at heart!

I don't think I could because my cheeks would just hurt so much at the end of the day.
I say no for the exact same reason, it hurts! I'M A pretty happy, smiley person, but when you're constantly forcing it, it hurts.

As a life-long Disney nerd, I look at it this way: I'm actually getting paid to be at Disney World all day. Heck yeah, I'm gonna smile!

I already work at a children's museum- but I doubt disney would take me. 'female' with a shaved head and facial piercings isn't exactly their style.

I was raised on Disney, just thinking about those movies brings back a lot of really happy memories for me...so the smiling thing wouldn't be an issue at all.
I'd be surrounded my nostalgia inducing images all day long, they'd have to pay me not to smile. =3

And after reading this, all I'd have to do is lose some weight and I'd fit the "image" just fine.
Long hair? check
Only two piercings (one in each ear)? check
Own a large stash of makeup to wear to work? ...check

Nah, and I was never interested in going to Disney. Growing up, I was always more of a Warner Brothers fan. I never liked classical music, but hearing it play in the older Looney Tunes clips gave me an appreciation for it. It wasn't until I was older that I learned all along I was being exposed to classical music and came to enjoy it. Mostly everyone I know (except me) has been to disney and loves all things disney. I never could get into the disney cartoons, just seemed not my cup of tea. I always thought I was getting taught something from watching the Bugs cartoons----he never had money, muscles, etc but he could always out smart/get out of any situation he was in and because of that my mind was always paying attention to the little details in those shows.

No I couldn't do it unless I was in a mascot costume.

I job is a job, you have to do it to get a check. If that was my job I would do it no problem until I could move on to something better.

not a real problem ! that is the case in many service and retail jobs anyway. being fake for the sake of making others' experience better is often a big part of many jobs.

I wouldn't really want to work there in any case. The constant smiling isn't an incentive, though.

I don't fake smiles well, and it turns out a study revealed people can tell a fake smile from a real one.

I work in a public services job so I already feel a bit of pressure to smile but I think that Disney would be very different and not really something I would be interested in experiencing, unless the pay was just so incredibly good that I couldn't pass it up.
