When trick-or-treating as a kid, was there any kind of candy that you didn't like to get?

I hated getting apples! I could have all the apples I wanted at home, I was making all that effort for free CANDY!

I dunno...apples could've been filled with free razor blades!

I hate those sesame seed candies and twizzlers.

Bubble gum. I never cared for that pink, super chewy crap after I turned like eight. I hated getting it.

Luckily I had a sister and parents that loved that stuff!

I never got gum, isn't that interesting, but back when I was a kid, Bubble Yum et al. were new & at a premium, so no one was going to spend that money on all those kids.

@JR, we weren't allowed to eat the apples until my mom cut them up because of the possible razor blades -- she stole the fun out of everything! Never got any razor blades in anything, did you?

I remember getting gummy roaches which disturbed me because in Florida we had those huge flying roaches...the horror.

Yuck, Coffee Nips, Mary Janes, and Mounds. They were always the ones left at the bottom of the pillow case a month after Halloween.

You always got the Coffee Nips at some old man's house, because he forgot it was Halloween, "Oh... candy? I forgot that was today.... wait, I have some Coffee Nips in a candy dish on top of the TV. I'll give you kids some of those..." then he'd wander off to ask his wife where the candy dish was and you didn't want to be rude and leave...

My kids used to hate getting those weird strawberry candies, with the wrapper that looks like a strawberry that they put in Christmas Food Gifts. They're hard candy with some.... goo on the inside. You know they've been sitting around since last Christmas.

I forgot about the coffee nips, ah ha ha! You nailed both those! Ewww, never received those yucky strawberry things for Halloween, but I know what they are - I spit one out one Xmas!

@GirlOnGirl - I remembered what's worse than the chocolate in Mr Goodbars...those dreadful gold coins you unwrap & discover the wrapper would taste better than the crap inside!

Good and Plenty.. Man, I hated those. For some reason my neighbor thought I loved them and would give me all of the left overs ones. I just gave them to my mom.

Actually back when I was still going trick-or-treating, I hated getting those little peanut butter kisses (the nougat like things wrapped in the orange and black wax papers).
I remember always trying to trade them to friends in grade school. xD
...the funny thing is that now, I absolutely love them.

I never got those, but I think I know what you're talking about.

We used to trade candy all the time! Too bad, for the most part, everyone wanted the same stuff!

My mom stole the fun too! She would go through our candy and take out stuff known to have lead in them. Like those ones with strawberry shaped wrappers and I don't remember what else.
I didn't like Dots, gold coins, jelly beans, hard candy. Getting chocolate bars was always the best ever and then the hard candy and gum was what was left. There was a funeral home in our neighborhood and they gave out king size candy bars. That's like hitting the motherlode in trick-or-treating! We'd always stop there early before they were gone.

Anything with nuts in it. The good part about getting Snickers and what have you was that I could easily trade them for something better!

I know, right? My kids are weird, one of them loves Coffee Nips and would eat them as a really little kid. She started drinking coffee at about 8. She was basically lying on the table when we were out for breakfast and the waitress we knew was trying to be funny and poured her half a cup. The kid drank it! After that she was always looking for coffee. Weird kid.

My kids always get some weird Santa chocolates for Halloween, along with those disgusting strawberry hard candies. People just save crappy candy to give away. Bleh. I always buy fresh stuff.

My husband calls them "Jizz Candy" because of the... goo when you bite into them.

He's a 12 year old boy in a 50something year old man's body, I swear.

Gum. I hate getting gum, and I will pick it all out of the kids candy just to throw it away. I have 4 little boys, giving them gum is like punishing me. I want to ask the people who pass it out "What did I do wrong? Do you hate me?"

LOL jizz candy.

Adding onto the list, saltwater taffy has and always will be terrible. And damn there is a candy and the name is on the tip of my tongue (I have a migraine today) but it's peanut butter or graham cracker flavored and of a taffy-like consistency but thicker and more chalky. They're little and rectangle and come in a yellow or light tan wrapper? Someone help me out, this is bothering me. Anyway, they taste like shit.

These are the strawberry candies I'm talking about.

My mom was always worried about health stuff because she is a nurse and found out about contaminated candies and forbid us from eating them. I feel like she had a list online or something that she checked. She still disapproves of me eating a bunch of Mexican snack food that is made in Mexico.

Considering that it's "Halfaween" today, I think that it's a perfect day for me to answer this discussion. ;P

I never liked getting anything home made, because my parents wouldn't let me eat it (free razor blades indeed) and I always felt awful throwing away something that was slaved over. The commercial candy that I hated the most was those stupid Halloween Kisses. The ones in the orange and yellow wrappers that taste like chewy black licorice? I can't stand black licorice, so they always went to my mum (I mean, it was nice to have something to give her to keep her from eating the things that I liked, I guess, but still - yuck!).

Edit - these mothers:
