I flash sometimes... and other times not... depends on my mood.
When driving, do you flash your lights to forewarn oncoming drivers of a parked cop running radar?

I try to flash the lights if I remember.

I flash my lights mosty on back roads and sometimes on main roads if someone seems to be going to fast or doing something wrong, but most the time i only flash my lights when a trucker needs over in the lane my in, so he knows it's safe to come over!

I'm mean. Hehehe.
I use to but these days I figure - if they are doing the wrong thing, then they should get caught.
I will give 2 flashes if there is a traffic accident or some other reason why drivers should be warned to slow down.

I was not aware people do that. I only flash lights at people who do not turn their lights on and its raining or dark.
Maybe that's why people flash lights at me, and I already have my lights on. I've been calling them assholes. I didn't know they were warning me about the Fuzz.

No. If their speeding let them get caught...!
03/30/2011
I never knew that was a indicator of a cop. I flash them at people who do not have their lights on at nighttime and have had this done to me as well a couple times.

I only flash my lights in the day time to alert people to a speed trap, especially if cars from the other direction alerted me to it. And I always try to do it far enough out of the cop's view. But at night I only do it to alert someone if they are driving without lights, or if they are driving with brights on dark two lane roads.

I didn't even know this was done. Perhaps I'm too much of a city person? I only flash my lights at people to remind them when they've left their headlights off at night.

WHAA?!? Comon, why would you want someone to get caught and fined? it helps you in no way at all. I mean if they are driving recklessly yea stop em before someone gets hurt, but the cops would notice that speedtrap or not. Most people speeding are just like all of us on this site, they have somewhere to ga and are in a hurry, or just prefer to get there faster. Most traffic accidents are caused by overly slow or overly timid drivers, not the speeders, so lets cut the guys some slack and treat everyone the way we would want to be eh?

Out of sight of cops, yes.

To make it clear, I don't flash my lights, I wave a hand at the oncoming driver and only when I think that the other driver won't be able to see the police officer and aren't driving like a maniac. To be clear, about once a month they'll set a speed trap at the bottom of a hill, where you really can't see them until you are almost on top of them, and they usually do it when everyone is trying to get to work. It's a bit dirty. My reasoning is that if the oncoming driver is able to see my wave then they are paying attention and will slow down.

I tend to flash my lights if there is something in the road or if its a back road cop trap. The kind where people get pulled over for going only a mile over.
03/30/2011
I only ever flash if someone has their high beams on. And even then I have a hard time remembering.
03/30/2011
Yea definitely no point in getting yourself pulled over flashing someone to keep Them from getting pulled over lol, talk about redundant.

never

I never even think about flashing my lights.

I agree. It is actually against the law to drive under the speed limit, unless weather conditions are extreme. I'd love to see people who are "comfortable" ; ; ; driving 18 miles and hour (and they are always in FRONT of me) get a ticket. But, as long as it isn't in a residential area, (we don't have sidewalks where we live, so the kids have to walk in the street) I think going 5 to 10 MPH over the limit is not something that is "wrong." As long as the person isn't doing asshole things like weaving in and out of traffic, cutting people off or going up on the curb (I live near Chicago, I see all these things daily) I wouldn't rat on someone, and would certainly warn them about a speed trap.

I've only had one ticket in the past 18 years, $120.00 that I didn't have to spare. It came out of my grocery money, as that's all I have at this point. I hope the frigging police had something better than my feeding my kids to do with it. (I was on my way to a job interview, for a job that I didn't even get to pay for the ticket.)
Why aren't those jerks who think they are "controlling traffic" by driving 18 miles an hour never stopped? They cause accidents all the time. And why do they always have to be in front of me?
05/02/2011
I didn't know this was a thing, so I've never done it. The only time I've flashed my lights is at night to let someone know they forgot to turn on their headlights.

I wish there was a way to warn people about deer, I live in an area with a lot of them.
I once had someone keep flashing their lights at me, behind me, for half a mile. I couldn't figure out why they were doing it, and it started to spook me, so I slowed to a crawl and forced them to pass me.
I usually only flash my lights if someone doesn't turn their high-beams off. I forget sometimes, myself.

Oops...didn't read the whole thing. I flash my lights - but I flash them at truckers when they pull by me to know that they've made it past me.
Otherwise - no - I don't flash my lights.
DUH!
