Mutts are the best dogs! Every purebred dog I've owned has had health problems

Oh man! I think I would go Corgi because they are just too cute. Can't go wrong with a mutt though. And if u got a ferret or 2 we could have ferret play dates when we visit!!

Awesome point; ferret play dates are the cutest. But then again, think of how awesome a ferret/corgi(or any dog small enough to not consider the ferret food) play date would be! =D

Yes, I met one at the vet clinic I used to work at and fell in love with the breed. It's very hard for me to try and give small dogs a fair go after that. =)

dobermans are so well behaved if you work with them and as long as you take them out for some exercise everyday it will be a great companion.

I think it'd be ok to get a bigger dog if you're in an apartment only if there is room outside for him/her to run around, and if you don't mind the space the dog would take up inside. I'm partial to mutts.

Another vote for a rescue mutt!
Mutts are great. They tend to live several years longer than purebreds, and they're way less prone to expensive health problems. Being able to "shop" for personality totally isn't worth the cost and suffering, in my book.

I would say check them out and then pick the one that stands out most to you. That's how it usually happens. Visit the shelter you plan to go to and spend a day looking. I'm sure one or maybe more will really stand out to ya

We've both had dogs before (albeit in suburban houses)and have a fair idea of what we're getting into. Also if at all possible said puppy (or dog) will be acquired from a shelter or rescue, so we are totally not here to debate that.
All this being said, what do y'all think? less

Corgi's are known to develop temperament problems as they age because they have an abundance of health issues.

Mutt or Corgi. I have a Corgi and he is amazing. Either way, you should post of picture of him/her when you get your puppy!

Definitely a mutt- they are way more exciting!!

I really like larger breeds in dogs I find they are much more fun and make good guard dogs as well. Hehe. Even living in an apartment I think having a larger breed would be fine (I voted for the doberman or the mutt xD) so long as you took them on regular walks :3 Some large dogs can also be very lazy soo I think a lot of it depends on the personality of the animal.

Small dog for a apartment.

I'd say go to a shelter and see the dogs...the breed doesn't matter, which dog you fall in love with is what's important.

Look for mixes with breeds you're both partial to, we have a 'mutt' and he's the best doggie ever (yes...I AM biased xD ).
On a side note, corgi's mixed with big dogs are a reasonable size...and corgi's mixed with pretty much any breed is bound to be too cute to stop hugging. (see attatched link for proof)
