20% rounded to the next highest convenient amount. I will tip more for especially good service, but I rarely tip less.
What percentage do you tip at a restaurant? (Be honest!)
02/23/2012
I tip a little over 15%, usually 18%.
02/23/2012
I don't really leave tips. >_> lol.
02/23/2012
its a sliding scale. I tip based upon the place plus the attitude of the wait staff.
02/23/2012
usually based on the experience of the occasion.
02/23/2012
If the service is adequate 15%. If above average 20%
02/23/2012
20% unless there were no check-backs or any drinks sat empty. Or other things, but those are our biggies. More often than not, we get good service and tip 20%.
02/23/2012
Unless the service or food is just absolutely horrible, I always tip 20% of the bill. Service work is hard and the pay is terrible, and those people deserve their tips.

Tip outs on your gross SALES?! I guess we servers who work at my parents' restaurant are really lucky. Tipping (we only have a busser on the weekends and no bartender) is based on our tips and it is just 10% minimum, more if we feel like it.

I'll make my waiter work but I'll always make it worth his while. Twenty, twenty five percent or more. If I have someone who OBVIOUSLY doesn't want to be there, fifteen percent. less

I double the tax and then round up to the next dollar if the server did a good job. If not, then it just depends on how sucky the service was.

It really depends on how good the service was.
02/24/2012
Depends on the service, I usually do it in a multiple of the tax, like say 3x the tip as the baseline and adjust accordingly. if it really bad I leave a penny, so they get the message that it was crap service not just a guy who doesn't tip.
02/25/2012
Generally, 15% is the minimum I'll tip, and if the service is decent I'll go for 20%, or 25% if the server was really fantastic. I might tip low if the service was truly, blatantly bad, but it's rare.
02/25/2012
Pretty much 20% every time., unless the service was really bad.
