I didn't see a category for those who spend more money in car stereos than what they paid for the car I could rattle your windows from blocks away.
What "Group" were you a part of in High School?
06/27/2011
I dressed goth in high school, and was mostly a loner.

You forgot the band!
And there were also athletics that weren't jock/prep, like cross country running. I was definitely cross-classed, though. I had friends in almost all of the groups, but I usually was more of a listeners and less of a talker.

I voted for Jock, but really i just hung out with the other members of the gymnastics team.
I wasn't at all popular in high school, but as though I went through a metamorphosis over the summer after my senior year, people's (and esp. men's) reactions to me were 100% different once I started college.

I'd have to go with the goody goody's. We're a specialized sect of nerd that avoided most teenage pit falls, valued our parents opinion, and was lucky to get a date. I like to think I bloomed late in life and the best things in life are worth waiting for!

I was goth the most but got along with everyone

I was a "Long haired freaky people" type but I hung out with many different groups.

I was about halfway between the popular kids and the band geeks because I was in the band but also did sports. It was a fine line.
06/27/2011
My high school didn't really have cliques because it didn't have sports or many electives. We had "specialties" that we were a part of--when I was a student, they were: IT/engineering, culinary arts/hospitality, legal studies/criminal justice, health science/medical studies, visual arts/journalism, and early childhood development. I was in the legal studies specialty. Usually, you had your core classes with your fellow specialty people, and that became your "clique." Upon meeting new people on your first day, the first question is "what is your specialty?"
It was neat. But, I was mostly a geek. Participated in things like debate club, newspaper, yearbook, etc.

I was one of the really smart kids who couldn't care less about school, took all ap and honors courses and just slept in class, and had one of the worst work ethics possible, but still got As. I talked to everyone except the anime people, so I didn't have a specific group. We really didn't have too many defined groups as I went to a catholic school with only about 1000 people.
06/27/2011
I always considered my friends to be the "normals" if anything. But I really didn't have many friends throughout high school to begin with.
06/27/2011
The Choral group.
06/27/2011
I went to a small high school in the country and we didn't really have cliques, or at least not most of the ones you mentioned here.
06/28/2011
Other:looked and smoked like a stoner, was into geeky/nerdy things (like D&D and reading), played sports, was on honor roll, and was a major metalhead. I kind of fit in with a lot of groups while still being in my own little group of friends- we were a mish mash of types who all really got along.

A Prep or Preppie is a term for usually rich kids who dress in button down shirts, neatly pressed pleated skirts, knee socks, sweater vests or blazers and were, at least in my school, closely related to the Jocks. There was a LOT of overlap between these groups. They were the kids, like the Jocks that the school administration LOVED. The word came from kids who went to Prep School, but was adapted to describe a clique in high schools and colleges. less

Thanks for the information, P'Gell! Personally, I went to an all boys high school, in which we all wore uniforms, so we didn't particularly have anyone who stood out in that sense, as we all had to dress like that.

I did not fit in with any of them, but I still hung out with most of them.
06/28/2011
I was sorta a "nerd" but I more accurately fit into a category of "outcast". I went to a small high school so there were three major social levels: popular, average, and nobodies. The populars were like royalty, the average adorned them and went about their average lives, and the nobodies were either frowned upon, avoided, hated, or ignored. (There were cliques and more specific groups in those levels but it basically came down to those steps.) I was basically invisible. No one hated me, picked on me, or used me. I basically didn't exist. There are people I went to school with for all 4 years of high school in my small ass class and wouldn't remember me.

I was one of those "doesn't fit anywhere" kids who floated around on her own most of the time - an outcast, disliked for being a loner, occasionally picked on but mostly ignored. I did have buddies in a few classes, though.
Though during my freshman year, I hung out a lot with a group known as the "Tree People." They were mostly goths who sat out on the lawn under this one tree, hence the name. They were pretty nice, and actually made sure I was guarded whenever there was a "freshman hunt" (older students at this particular school would occasionally "adopt" freshmen, and this was one of the perks of being adopted). I hear they dispersed after I flunked out of that school and had to go to another one. The other group I was with that year was the anime and game crowd, and they were always a lot of fun, plus my three best friends were in that group with me. I miss both groups, though I have kept in touch with those three friends.

I was pretty geeky, but most of my friends were intense stoners.
